It is disgusting!! You praise politicians for doing a horrible job by electing/re-electing them. I don't get how you can transform a simple comparison into a personal problem, but yet again, I don't support politicians that do nothing to support tax paying citizens and you do.

Because it IS xenophobia. Undocumented workers and asylum seekers pay taxes, work, contribute to increasing our GDP, are far less likely to commit crimes than the general population.... They contribute to the system MORE than they take out (I have opened several threads demonstrating this, and YOU participated in at least one of them) There is a human problem, which is why immigration should be (and is) controlled. It's possible that terrorists and criminals might attempt to gain entrance. But that's a tiny part of illegal immigration. So every time you hear somebody on the media talking about the "horrors" immigrants bring, you can be sure you are listening to a xenophobe. Make no mistake about it.

Now Abbott's idiocies are costing billions of dollars to businesses and taxpayers with his idiotic policy to search every vehicle that crosses the border (which was forced to stop 2 days ago, but Americans will be paying for it for months).

Anybody who is REALLY worried about the costs of illegal immigration would be criticizing THAT. Everybody else you listen to who doesn't explain the cost of doing that... they are just xenophobes.

The child separation policy is still being used by the Biden Administration.

but the simple fact is a lot of people come here for govt freebies and a lot of people think theres better things to spend their taxes on. So sending em to where people want more of their taxes to be spent supporting economic migrants makes sense.

Why does it sound like 'everybodys happy' except for you? Its not often a politician comes up with an idea that makes 'everybody happy.' Shouldn't Abbot be applauded for such a wildy popular move?

    ABBOTT is the topic!!!

To just mindlessly throw in talking points you heard on right-wingnut media, like you do, you don't need to read the OP. But the least you could do is read the TITLE!

You didn't mention that you're Native American. Cool. Do you live on a reservation?

If they do, they get a big surprise: they have to WORK for them. And they do. And more workers produce more benefits for this country.

The only thing they can't find in their own country that they do find here is WORK. And working means producing, increasing GDP and paying taxes.

Anything else you hear is xenophobia pure and simple.

Looks like Abbott introduced another problem with his universal inspection for all trucks.

    https://www.krgv.com/news/in-mcalle...-deliveries-rotten-produce-and-lost-business/
In McAllen, one of the Rio Grande Valley’s busiest trade posts with Mexico, Abbott’s directive caused ripples across the supply chain. Long lines at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge left truckers waiting to cross for days, big-name grocers shifted their import routes to other ports of entry outside Texas, produce spoiled en route and warehouses sat empty. All the while, workers who depend on the commerce between the two countries lost hours and pay — and consumers will likely pay a price, too.

I understand his frustration, but he over reacted here and is certainly causing hardship for many Texans.

CIUDAD JUÁREZ, Mexico – The governors of Mexican border states are lining up to pledge that they’ll increase security measures at commercial crossings as they seek a resumption of normal trade between Texas and Mexico.

Governors and senior officials in the states of Chihuahua, Coahuila and Tamaulipas said Thursday that they are seeking agreements with Texas Gov. Gregg Abbot that will allow him to rescind his April 6 order for state troopers to perform safety inspections on all commercial traffic in an effort to root out migrant and drug smuggling operations.

(The Center Square) – Gov. Greg Abbott late Friday signed his fourth memorandum of understanding in three days with another Mexican governor as part of his commitment to secure Texas’ shared border with Mexico.

I think you are confusing that with the Title 42 (?) policy. The child separation policy was ended with extreme pressure and court cases under Trump.

That may technically be the case for 'immigrants' (though theres plenty of loopholes), but not so for refugees. And since the distinction is subjective (for example, 'fleeing violence' qualifies one to apply as a refugee, what country doesnt have violence?), they come here and get assistance while their status is under review, which usually takes so long they become a 'resident' and can then qualify based on that instead.

Deny it all you want, but thats what happens and people know it. Your 'xenophobia' assertion is a transparent farse.

You're being lied to. Families are still being separated under the Biden Administration. The media is no longer focusing on the border or the families being separated.

    https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnbc...ren-u-s-border-spans-administrations-n1294203

Despite all the attention given to what former President Donald Trump’s administration did to separate families, the majority of Americans — at least those who support Democrats — have tended not to care as much about family separations and awful conditions before or after Trump.

So you would be ok with TX loading them in a cargo ship and dropping them off at the port in NY? NY surely needs some cheaper labor?

He is not guilty of "aid and abet", because he knows the people he is sending are NOT illegals. He is just throwing taxpayer money into the wind.

DC taxpayers money instead of Texas taxpayers.

Sounds like sour grapes. If DC is so happy to have them, and Abbott is tired of being overrun with illegals because this administration has the highest illegal crossing in the history of this country, and nobody in DC is lifting a finger to stop it, not to mention Biden wanting to add fuel to the fire by eliminating title 42 bringing in more illegals, what makes the people of Texas xenophobic?
    Sounds more like hurt feelings

Sounds more like a great deal for Texas. A bus ticket and a free meal vs years of these illegals leaching off the same tax payers?
Whats there not to like for the Texas taxpayer

    DC paid for the transportation?

    No. Texas taxpayers did.

Your article is talking about the ongoing treatment of minors in the system, which is certainly subpar. But these are not the result of the child separation policy. They were unaccompanied minors.

While Biden has been very disappointing on immigration, the child separation is not happening right now.

Now DC taxpayers get to cover all of their expenses moving forward. Free health care, free housing, free income.
Thats a great deal for Texas. Just a bus fare and a meal.
Don't know why those who are so pro illegal are upset.
    Isn't this what they want?

Of course it's the case for refugees! You might have wanted to say that it's not the case for asylum seekers. But it is also the case, since they are eligible to receive a work visa while they wait for their court day.

They get a little bit of assistance, but it's YOUR claim, and you didn't even bother to research it. So I will just tell you that the cost of that assistance for the country is very quickly recovered many times over in the form of taxes, Social Security and increase in GDP.

How naive can one be to not realize the cost of people pouring into your town and using up local resources. Yeap but hey great thought the only cost of these illegal migrants is the cost of the bus ride lol.

You are participating in a thread but your question demonstrates that you didn't even bother to read the OP. How would we expect that you would make any sort of meaningful contribution to the topic being discussed?

A tiny expense compared to taking care of this massive swell of unskilled immigrants. The Texas schools and prisons and medical facilities and housing are being completely overwhelmed with this mass migration. The more they can ship to DC, the easier it will be on Texas.
