CNN believed that everyone would pay for "premium" content from it's "stars" And after spending over 100M to stand up their own private streaming service, CNN is cutting bait and running from their ugliest baby ever. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/digital/cnn-plus-shutting-down-1235133393/ Of course, it wasn't about the "quality".... but all of their viewership seems to live only in empty airport lounges these days... Talking to thin air seems to be something that we only thought Biden did in public... but it turns out that CNN grossly over estimated the value of their content. Time will tell is this isn't just another nail in the coffin CNN is self constructing....
I can't wait until one of the resident leftists come in and start talking about CNN's Arabic programming. A really good joke is easy to laugh at more than once.
Turns out my original post had an error. I had seen estimates that Warner had sunk 100M into the creation of the streaming service. As the Hollywood reporter piece says, it was actually 300M. I wonder what their shareholders think now.... LMAO. WarnerMedia had spent some $300 million on the launch of CNN+, and planned to spend hundreds of millions more in the coming months and years. Subscribers to CNN+ will receive prorated refunds for their fees. Ruh Roh.....
Fox has something similar. I would never join. It’s just a cash grab This whole streaming service thing I. General is a big joke to me Funny story I was into this show on Amazon prime called “Britannia” and seasons one and 2 were on prime. Ok cool, I already pay for prime Only the first 2 episodes of season 3 were on prime and you had to buy some channel called “epic” if you want to see the rest I was willing to even buy the episodes but you can’t so it’s get a new service or don’t watch Also that new Star Trek discovery show requires CBS+ It’s almost like they are doing with streaming services what pushed people away from cable in the first half pace Screw that!
Who knew there was a season 3 of Britannia? We watched the first two seasons, then it looked like it just disappeared.
I've got no problem paying for content I want to watch and agree with. I do my best to vote with my wallet. A lot of TV shows I like are no longer out except for re-runs so I buy a box set. Got a free year of Fox Nation and get 50% any future renewals so that's worth it for me. Something that would let you pay for individual shows you like is something I would do, but I'm not helping fund all the woke nonsense. Don't have Netflix or any of the other services. Do have basic cable. If they let you pay for the shows you want to see, I'd be fine with that. Otherwise they can all stuff it. Do you like the new Star Trek? From what I've seen it's basically women crying in space.
it has a little bit of the “woke” treatment but I still enjoyed it You can tell the woke stuff is shoved in Example: this one character has some kind of parasite/symbiote thing living inside her and ahe had to tell them I prefer to be called “they” They of course have a gay couple thrown in the mix Most of the bad ass characters are women. Despite all this I really like the actors and many trekkies would kill le for saying this but I like that they made the Klingons more alien like
Dax? That's character has been around since the 90s, as has the theme of Dax's gender ambiguity due to the fact that Dax is an alien lifeform that doesn't really have a gender but has lived in male bodies and female bodies.
Agree with all of your points Are you watching Picard? Season 2 has been real good I am in the middle of season 2 of Discovery. I enjoyed season 1 a lot with the Klingon War storyline. Season 2 is dragging so far and I still have seasons 3/4 to watch
The higher-ups at CNN are idiots. The market is already saturated with digital news. They missed out on that boat years ago....
I guess they should have gone with the Faux model. Maybe putting a blonde with a short skirt between two nitwits spewing disinformation. Now that's infotainment!
To have a chance in the paid streaming world, you have to have a monopoly on some intellectual property that people want to see so much that they're willing to pay for it. Paramount Plus has the Star Trek franchise, so if you are a Star Trek fan and want to see new Treks, that's the only game in town. If you like anything either Star Wars or Marvel related, and hundreds of millions of people do, you are going to have to go to Disney Plus. I also watched Britannia, and my wife and I are going to get Epix and binge watch it then drop the service. Or you can just wait a few years and season 3 will probably be on Prime.
Picard is pretty good, in spite of the crammed in wokeness. The only good thing about Discovery season 2 is Pike. Looking forward to his show next month.
The series has been "woke" from the very beginning. It's always had a very strong socially liberal bent for its time.
Kirk kissing Uhura was a big deal at the time Plus the classic episode that was a metaphor on racism with Frank Gorshin
It's always been a socially liberal franchise. I wouldn't say it's always been "woke" as we understand the term in the current year.
