My reasoning by process of elimination is: Not 9, because saving lives and reducing suffering would have been best achieved by forcing a compromise before the fighting started. The US has the authority to block Ukraine from ever joining NATO.
Not 8 because the public want some stability in our lives, not the risk of facing a one million dollar medical bill due to being hit by a car or sudden loss of our job to another country.
Not 7 - the US could easily be made more competitive in the World by not having the most expensive inefficient healthcare insurance on the planet.
6 - The defense industry (the weapons makers). Congress works for the weapons makers. On March 28 Joe Biden asked for 753 Billion dollars for 'defense,' Congress approved 782 Billion. In this case, it isn't Joe who works for someone else, but Congress.
Not 4, the EU looks likely to suffer if there are restrictions on the gas supply from Russia. In 2018 Donald Trump openly informed the leader of Germany - Chancellor Merkel - that she was becoming too dependent on Russian fuel. Pres. Trump had two good reasons for making that statement. Firstly it would have benefited Germany and, to a lesser extent, the rest of the EU. Secondly, the dependence on Russian fuel was a strong card in the hand of Pres. Putin to expect some compliance on the part of countries in Europe over his demands that Ukraine must not join NATO.
Not 2. An EU Russian energy embargo will force Russia to sell to whoever will buy it, and that will allow China to negotiate a favorable deal.
He works for the 2 party system and the elites that keep the nation divided, just like every other president in living memory.
Maybe we can call it 'mammon.' We couldn't keep our hands off Ukraine. We kept selling them weapons even though we knew they were using them to kill Russian-speaking citizens in the Eastern part of the country. We couldn't stop letting former Soviet Republics into NATO even though we had promised we wouldn't. Because there was big money to be made by the 'defense' industry, as the new NATO members standardized on western weapons.
People want politics to be simple: Red is better than Blue, or Blue is better than Red. The essential factor isn't what a person claims to have as their ideology; it is their morality. It isn't enough to determine a party a little too far to the Right and then push it to the Left. It's about good and evil, and people today seem to find that too difficult to understand. Things like maybe we should help people instead of killing them. Complex concepts like that. People understood that better a century ago than they do today.
So Joe can stop wars just by saying so. LOL! Why do you have such a high opinion of him? Joe is doing a great job [provided you aren't delusional]!!!
I tend to agree. We have moved from the glass half full to the glass half empty. We respond to things with defensiveness and anger instead of thought. Just look at Sunday's firebombs and intrusions. Not much morality.
Joe is probably the worst President the US has ever had. Trump 2017: no war in Ukraine, a bit of low-level conflict. Trump 2018: ditto Trump 2019: ditto Trump 2020: ditto Biden 2021: in November tells Zelenskyy the US will support him in gaining NATO membership and back him up in conflict with Russia. Biden 2022: February - Kyiv shells Dombas then Russia moves in. However much the media celebrates a war, in the end, the war is always worse than peace. The US comes out chest-thumping 'we are the winners' but the other countries take the casualties.
