In terms of law, systemic racism has largely been rooted out.
But changing of laws doesn't automatically end peoples upbringing and thoughts. So it exists in stereotypes and other beliefs about minorities.
Even to this day on this forum, there are those that don't like rights that minorities have gained to be treated as equals.

So, while it's not legal systemic racism, it's still part of mindsets.
And mindsets do not change easily. Often in society it will take 3 or more generations to pass before it becomes mostly a non issue.
We are about 2 generations into that. Assuming about 20 yrs / generation.

I dont care about slavery in the 18th century or in Africa.
Nor do I care what the social norms are in Africa today.
I think BLM did a wonderful job of sensitising everyone to the modern day injustices practised by the police and others, which without the message, would still be happening.
It is good to see an awareness of what many hadn't noticed and more restraint where there was excess.
Evidence is that we are still talking about it.

Well, surely now ALL Black Americans are welcome to go have fun in that $6,000,000 'party' mansion that BLM co-founder, Patrisse Khan-Cullors, bought with donations she and her cohorts raked-up.

Well... using your "20 yrs/generation" basis for calculation... and seeing that now in 2022, it's been 58 years since America adopted the Civil Rights Act of 1964 into rock-solid law, would you agree that even liberal Democrats should agree that the last vestige of any residual 'systemic' racism should be finished in another couple of years, using a coefficient of three generations...?

On the contrary, Dairy... it seems certain instead that BLM, ANTIFA, and other 'reparations-miners' will be ranting and raving about alleged 'systemic-racism' for at least ANOTHER three generations, too... because it's the only 'angle' many of them have anymore....

Isn’t that like their union hall? Like after a hard day rioting, vandalizing Walmarts, setting fires, throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails at da po-po , hurling racist insults at little old men and women……the need a please where they can go and unwind. Have a cold brew, go for a swim. Makes a rioter feel human again!!!

Blacks sold blacks into slavery predominantly because other races/ethnicities bought them.

Blacks in Africa were raiding other groups for goods and slaves long before there was a slave trade with whites. The first slavery in africa dates back to 145 BC.. Institutional slavery in Africa involving whites got started in the early 1600 and was mainly european dominated the Portuguese and spanish and dutch dominated the trade.

100% CORRECT! But unfortunately, those African chieftains who sold other Blacks into slavery are all dead and long gone... and so are all the American, British, and French slave owners in the 1800's.

So, who does BLM, reparations-miners, and "advocacy" groups blame for all these Black 'problems' today? If you aren't a Black, GO LOOK IN THE MIRROR....

Well if you can tell me one country that isn't racist that would be a good start. I've read the Bible, the Quran, and the histories of many countries and they are all racist. I just have to except that maybe, just maybe, people prefer to live with their own kind and their own religion. At least in America we try to respect the rights of others to be different. Even then it has been a very slow process.

Not that long really. The expansion of the Bantu peoples, who took slaves as an integral part of their warfare, was what resulted in the slave surplus that attracted Arab traders in the 10thc. This was nearly custom made to expand into the Atlantic Slave Trade in the 16thc and this was the major trade and contact between Europe and Africa until the early 19thc when the British decided to stop it. Stopping the Slave Trade was the dominant driver of British Imperialism in Africa throughout most of the early and middle 19thc

They want reparations from the usa because we are a rich nation and i think all American slave owners have been dead for some time.. Try asking a African tribe who captured and sold slaves for money and see what the assets are.
Greed you go after the money not the true perpetrator

The 3 generation I use is of my own making for observance of past wrongs that it takes to change. IT is certainly nothing hard set.
But the 3rd generation from the ruling are now the great grandchildren of those in the 60s. Most are teens and young adults at this time.
Most of them won't care at all if there's a gay person in their classroom or workplace.
If there's an interracial couple they know.
If one is a trans or cis gender. It will be normal from their upbringing that those people exist and are just as good or bad as they are and will judge them on character and not what they are.

Perhaps blm, antifa will do as you suggest. I don't think blm will exist in 60 yrs. But I won't know if they are or not.

So you admit then, there's systemic racism.
But we should not address it because there's other countries that are racist?

Yes, we are attempting to address is and it is a very slow process. It's largely rooted out of the legal system, but not yet rooted out of peoples mindsets.

There is evidence that Black-on-Black slavery was practiced routinely in Sub-Saharan Africa longer ago than that, perhaps going back many thousands of years.... After all, it was simply what happened when a rival tribe defeated another tribe in warfare -- the losers became slaves to the victors.

Many White South Africans, whose family roots there go back well over a hundred years or more, have been immigrating to Australia because the rotten, corrupt Ramaphosa government looks the other way while Whites are treated like sh*t, robbed, and murdered.

Slavery has been an integral part of all cultures throughout history and pretty much still is. It waxes and wanes in its influence on all of them. Most sources I've seen suggest that the Atlantic Slave Trade was the major force in African history in the modern era. It originated, from the African peoples themselves and was continued and expanded by the European's use of it to build their empires in the New World.
