Any bets on how long Boris will be PM in GB?

Poor mite is way down the approval ratings and Labour/ Starmer is now the preferred government of choice.
Dumping on the public's rightful sensitivities about losing loved ones while he partied on is not the way to win friends...even if your name is Boris Johnson, the man who is an exception to everything. The red wall in the north, his special project, especially doesn't like being take for mugs.
So how long do you think his 80 seat majority, many taken from such northern sets, will last?

 

Boris won't be removed by the voters.
He'll be replaced by his own party long before the next General Election.

 

I don't see him going anytime soon. There is no singular candidate for replacement and I doubt anyone would want to take over during the pandemic or be seen to be disrupting the government during the pandemic either. He may face a challenge when (if!) the pandemic ends but that depends on how well he handles (and spins) things going forwards (though he isn't the type to learn from his mistakes).

Labour are recovering but aren't in a position to force an snap election and similarly, aren't going to want to make any major moves during the pandemic.

 

He doesn't have to call an election for quite some time, and there's certainly no incentive to move that forward while his polls are down.

 

And many of his MP's polls are down too.
They have voiced doubts as to Boris' ability to support their approval in the eyes of the electorate.
Ultimately it will be they who can write letters to the chair of the 1922 committee and start the ball rolling.

 

All who are suffering in the polls have an incentive to postpone action for as long as possible.

 

For a general election sure, but if they had a leadership candidate they believed would do a better job for the party, they would push for a Conservative leadership (and therefore effectively Prime Ministerial) election sooner rather than later. I think the lack of that definitive candidate willing to step forward is the only thing saving him at the moment.

 

We shall see.

 

Nobody is interested in the ups and downs of Boris or anybody else for that matter now the news cycle has moved on.....wait for lock-down 3 to pass and then stare wistfully into the tea leafs

 

The positive result of Boris' demise includes for me a possibility of rejoining the EU single market and/or customs union.
From recent suggestions this seems to be becoming an issue.

It would have been refreshing if the Tory MP's had reflected their constituents' opinions. Instead as usual it was politics that won Boris the vote.
However he will have to do a lot of changing and stop lying...I don't think that is possible.
I would be astonished if he makes it to the end of the year.

 

He just needs to invite more people to the parties at #10.

In a weird way I kind of respect the Brits for holding their elected officials to account over their COVID hypocrisy. Everyone this side of the pond got a free pass no matter how egregious their transgression.

 

I have the advantage of knowing how the 'confidence' vote went in Parliament, so, now we know that Boris keeps his position and cannot be similarly challenged in Parliament for twelve months.

 

He can be outed by orher ways. Major and Thatcher both won votes of confidence and we're gone within à year.
And their issues were policy, not fundamental character faults and the flaunting of honesty and intégrité, upon which the British Constitution rests.
Not forgetting the enormous slap in the face those who lost people during covid while he partied. Sooner or later the people will get rid of him.

 

Boris Johnson is a deeply evil narcissist.
Don’t be fooled by bluff, bluster, public school accented rubbish, he is a damaging disaster who has got every call wrong.
Those who support him or vote for him are complicit.
When they have party meetings in Westminster they do a public school brownshirted table thumping with echoes of Nazi’s and nights of the long knives.
Boris Johnson is a bloated bag of shame flavoured custard.

I have been listening to various MP's who did and didn't vote for him.
What stands out for me is the rôle of the whips who promise and suggest great things for their careers and constituencies...what I cannot understand is that they believe à proven liar!
what does it take for them to understand à 4 letter word?

 

He won't survive the next general for sure.

 

For a litany of reasons that would take me the rest of the morning to enumerate, it does seem that Great Britain has been more-or-less stumbling down a path toward an almost deliberate national suicide since August 4, 1914.

To be very brief, the country has completely wrecked its world-wide empire and much of its economy during the last 108 years, while producing little of note but a few interesting rock 'n roll bands....

Figuring largely in this slow-rolling, epic disaster was one man... the mastermind of the Dardanelles Campaign and, of course, Gallipoli.
