    Would you like that?
I'm sure he'll beat Joe as the crooked Donald did beat Hillary. :)

    What do you think?
In my opinion, Elon would be an excellent POTUS. :(

Democrats would be like a kid set free in a candy store and have a field day trying to overthrow and impeach him.

Actually I thank that would be easy. He was not born in the US and his parents were not US citizens.

He wasn't born in the US. POTUS eligibility requires 'natural born citizenship.' VP does as well. I think the highest office he could legally attain would be congress.

Good point. Are you sure he is not naturalized? All the Democrats would have to do is riot at the Capitol on Jan 6, 2025 to protest and change the electoral college vote.

He is a naturalized US Citizen, that's why. For President, you have to be a "natural born citizen" which is a higher standard than just being a citizen. Neither can Arnold Swartzinnegger can be President. He can be Governor, mayor, senator, representative, ambassador, etc, but never President.

If a Republican becomes President, he may be tapped to lead a Department, like Commerce Secretary or head NASA or be an Ambassador to South Africa or EU.

He was literally born in South Africa, a country, in the city of Pretoria; and not on a US base, territory, etc. He emigrated to the US eventually via Canada to the University of Pennsylvania. From there, he literally got the work visas from Silicon Valley employment, which led to his naturalization.

I wasn't up on the specifics, so thank you. But if Musk is a naturalized citizen he is eligible to be president.

Elon is not a natural born US citizen. He was naturalized in 2002. He is therefore ineligible to be President.

He could run for the House or Senate though. I don't see why - he has a good thing going in the business world.

Article II, Section 1, Clause 5:

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.
This is a problem when a significant portion of the population cannot readily understand this basic Constitutional requirement.

There were very few presidents or presidential candidates after the early 1800s who were natural born citizens or a citizen [naturalized] at the time the constitution was adopted [ratified], which is what the Constitution states explicitly, but I suppose it can be adjudicated.

It would have been far easier to just type, "sorry, my mistake".

Did you not type the above?

Do you not understand the difference between natural-born and naturalized?

IMHO a presidential candidate must have been US resident for at least 14 years. :)

No he is not. The specific requirement in Article 2 is a natural-born citizen. That means he is either born on US soil, a US Base, either he or abroad or a US territory. It does not include people born outside of the country, who emigrated here, and then became naturalized US citizens. His mother is Canadian. His father is South African. He got his Canadian citizenship through his mother when he went from Pretoria to Canada and then to the University of Pennsylvania.

. . . That's not what the Constitution says. At all.
