The US is now paying for sex change surgeries for members of the military, under an executive order from the Biden Administration.

Is this what taxpayer money should be spent on?

It's not only just current active members of the military, but includes veterans too.

    Oh for the love of...

Gender Confirmation Surgeries are fine to have. They work at reducing dysphoria, and they take less time off than other things like pregnancy. In return you can help attract a population that is already willing to join the military at higher rates than the average population.

    And once again....

STOP TALKING ABOUT TRANS PEOPLES' GENITALS!

It's really creepy how cis people fixate on trans bodies like that.

But spending taxpayer money on it?
Giving extra money to persons just because they want to get one of these surgeries?

Look at what $100,000 of taxpayer money (per procedure) is being spent to do:
How they turn the penis inside out to make a vagina

Then consider that the typical salary of a soldier is $26,000 to $29,500 per year.

Oh my gosh answer this question first-what is the fascination with trans people's genitals? It's really creepy.

It's completely fair game if the taxpayers are paying for it.

No, it's really not. I mean, I don't ask anyone about their genitals, and whether tax payers paid for them.

Are you supposed to represent the typical Progressive?

There is nothing trolling in the opening post. Why do you seem to be so desperate to dismiss it?

Why are you so fixated by other people's genitals? I think that was a fair question @Kranes56 posed.

Why do you seem to think taxpayer money should be spent on this?

    It's very expensive.

Some of these procedures can even end up costing upwards of $150,000 to $175,000, when factoring in after care and the hormone treatment regimens. Sometimes multiple surgeries.

There are way more men getting ED therapies. Why should I pay for those?

So you honestly think a transgender surgery is comparable treatment for ED?

You seem to know a lot about this, or at least desire to know more. Have you talked to someone about this?

It seems that you two support taxpayer money going to pay for this, but are not interested in having an actual debate and cannot use logic to defend your position.

The Left doesn't seem to be able to conceptualize any difference between supporting something and the issue of whether government should pay for that thing.
It is the same exact question for them.

Seems like kind of a "communist" mentality.

If a person has gender dysphoria he is not healthy and should not be accepted into the army.

Dysphoria means incompatibility of the mind and the body. A person can be dysphoric about their weight for example and decide to lose weight by exercising and eating healthier. A person can be dysphoric and still be fit to serve.

Then why do they require therapy?

Hmm, wouldn't it be easier to try to change the mind?

This sounds like a pretty severe psychological issue if it's going to end up costing $150,000 in elective surgeries. Maybe they should only be admitted into the army once they've got their psychological issues worked out?
Or will you admit this procedure is totally not necessary for them to be in fit shape to serve in the military? In which case, the question is why is government paying for it?

Why shouldn't they be required to save up money themselves to pay for it?
