If Republicans choose Donald Trump as their presidential nominee in 2024, Democrats will win. If they nominate almost any other prominent conservative, Democrats will lose — and they will lose big. A 2024 White House bid by Trump would ensure the focus of the election is on re-litigating 2020 and the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol breach, rather than on the issues important to voters right now. Democrats realize this may be their only path to victory, after years of unified control in Washington has left many American families worse off than they were before.

If the GOP Nominates Trump in 2024, the GOP chance to reclaim the WH will be toast.
Trump might be the only candidate who would guarantee a certain GOP Loss in 2024.
Hopefully, the GOP nominates him, so the Dems can wipe the floor with him.

Trump is too old now, just wishful thinking by Democrats and their allies in the mainstream media.

Best part of Trump 2024. Win and he is a lame duck quickly. Doesn’t have a lot of time to make many lasting changes.

Don't agree AJ - Trump will win if he runs. Not because a lot of independents are voting for Trump, but will be voting against the Dems

That is reality - we are heading to a recession, gas prices will keep going up and the stock market will flounder. No one is going to win re-election in that environment

AJ, I want to be hopeful but it's waning. Trump cultists are already lining up to either vote him in or bully him in. Most people aren't hard-wired to stand up to bullies and he's too narcissistic to step aside because he's toxic. The only saving grace at the moment is some of them are actually adults looking to the future without his boorishness, but I don't know if that's enough.

All Trump had to do in order to beat Biden was to shut is trap. He couldn't do it. Trump beat Trump in 2020.
He left office on the crazy train and I'm not sure why anyone would want to see him back, especially starting another 4 year run at 79.

Well your answer is in the post below yours:

That’s why we want Trump to win again. To make the left suffer after what they did to Trump and conservatives for the past decade or so.

I agree, but the Democrats could mess it up and nominate Harris like they did Clinton in 2016. Trump still isn’t liked by independents. The GOP needs to realize they’re still the smaller of the two major parties. Hence to win a national election, the Republicans must win the independent vote. Trump can’t unless his opponent is Harris. Independents dislike Harris slightly more than Trump just like independents disliked Hillary Clinton more than Trump.

Currently 56% of independents have an unfavorable view of Harris, 47% very unfavorable. 55% unfavorable opinion of Trump which includes 42% very unfavorable. 2024 is a long way off, but Trump’s numbers have been steady since 2016 when 57% of independents viewed him unfavorably, 2018 when 58% viewed Trump unfavorably and 2020, 60%. Trump has dropped 5 points off on his unfavorable view by independents, but that is because he’s been in the background. Kind of forgotten about. But it wouldn’t take a week or two in front of the cameras during a general election campaign to remind independents why they disliked him so much. 53% of independents had an unfavorable view of Harris in Nov 2020, she has had a slight uptick since then.

Yes, the nomination of Trump for 2024 would be a god sent if the Democrats nominate someone else other than Harris. But they still could blow it.

Dems are shaking in their boots at Trump lol. Quite astounding how someone who did a good job scares dems, while brandon whom has done a horrible job gets nothing but their praise lol.

You let the cat out the bag :( How many times have we read "We didn't vote for Bydummy, WE voted to get rid of Trump"! Same old story about the leftists mind, they think they are the only ones able to take advantage of that sort of warped rationalization ;)

Mental note - Re-register as a Republican in time for the Primary so I can vote for him.......and then against him in the General.

Can't disagree with your post too much, other than expand that it wasn't so much his mouth alone, because that did get the base of republicans to vote. He lost focus and just some small steps with recognizing covid would have helped.

Wait.. so you're telling me the least liked Republican nominee in the party's history, who failed to ever win a popular vote, and who became the first president since Herbert Hoover to lose a combined house majority, senate majority, and reelection, with a lower approval rating than George W Bush when he left office is a bad candidate?

Yes, he's a horrible candidate. And Hillary couldn't beat him and Joe has done a much worse job than him. Life if funny sometimes.

Ah - the irony of someone who complains about opinion pieces posted in current events - posting an opinion piece in current events. Well, it could be worse - we could have a poster complaining about Trump making three threads a day about him. Trump Derangement Syndrome indeed.

The funny thing is, assuming the OP is correct - and you need to take that with a huge grain of salt - it essentially also says the Dems are toast with Biden at the helm. In effect, you have the same thing as what happened in 2016 as the Dems nominated Hilla and lost because she could have lost to a candy wrapper. Now if they nominate Biden - or more hilariously, The World's Greatest Hot Dog Swallower - it's just as bad. The GOP has far better candidates out there than the Dems have because they pretty much are stuck with Joe and the Ho in 2024.
