Governor Authorizes Police Unit to Go After 'Hate Speech

In a surprise to no one who has been paying attention to how the left operates, Democrats and their media lapdogs are weaponizing last week’s mass shooting in Buffalo, New York, to ramp up censorship and crush the Second Amendment.

On Wednesday, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul signed two sweeping executive orders supposedly aimed at eradicating hate speech and preventing racially motivated shootings (which are already illegal, by the way).

One of the orders announced the formation of a “domestic terrorism unit” to crack down on social media posts that Hochul and her minions deem offensive.

So now that the disinformation board has been canceled for disinformation, we have a NY Governor who decided to pick up where they left off.

Can't wait to see these idiots in a court room get lambasted on their first arrest. What is it about Democrats that can't comprehend the constitution?

There are probably more examples of hate speech coming from the left than anyone else.

Free speech is such a misunderstood concept by the right these days.

Disinformation does NOT equal hate speech. They can be the same thing, but not all disinformation is hate speech. Conflating the two like you did is disinformation.

You have a right to freedom of speech, but you don't have a right to be free of consequences for your speech. Most of those consequences are not enforceable by the government, but can be natural consequences of saying stupid things. Also, not all speech is equal. Lies, racist speech, hateful intimidation is lessor than facts and truth. That's a given. If you say the sky is purple, I can dismiss you out of hand. And I'm right to do so because that's the point of free speech, it's designed to encourage ideas to be discussed, but it's not required that all ideas are given equal merit.

As for hate speech being a crime, it certainly can be. There are times when speech is criminal. Laws and the courts have said so. You're right to free speech cannot infringe on other persons rights. That's enshrined in the constitution.

 

When it comes to violence libs are very creative. Remember when that antifa lib cracked open a guy's head with a bike lock?

Oh I'm sorry Steve, I don't spend every waking hour of my day worrying about violent dipshits that take to the streets and do dumb ****. They all get what they deserve one way or another. I am in favor of law enforcement or anyone taking them out to protect their life or the life of others. Not really though, at least not for a lot of "potentially dangerous" people. For example, young black men are responsible for a huge fraction of the gun violence and murders in this country each year, way out of proportion for the relatively small fraction of the population they represent. They are "potentially dangerous" by any rational definition of that phrase, but it would be a violation of both the 2nd and 14th amendments for a state to decide they were to be denied the right to keep and bear arms due to this "potential" danger they represent.

OTOH, if the police found evidence that some particular group of young black men were conspiring to, say, murder a bunch of white cops in an attack reminiscent of the Dallas attack by Micah Xavier Johnson, they could certainly then swoop in, arrest the co-conspirators, and put them on trial for their crime, and thus deny them the RKBA and prevent them from "endangering the general welfare".
