Ginni Thomas, wife of Supreme Court justice, pressed Ariz. lawmakers to help reverse Trump’s loss, emails show

Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, the conservative activist and wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, pressed Arizona lawmakers after the 2020 election to set aside Joe Biden’s popular-vote victory and choose “a clean slate of Electors,” according to emails obtained by The Washington Post.

The emails, sent by Ginni Thomas to a pair of lawmakers on Nov. 9, 2020, argued that legislators needed to intervene because the vote had been marred by fraud. Though she did not mention either candidate by name, the context was clear.

Just days after media organizations called the race for Biden in Arizona and nationwide, Thomas urged the lawmakers to “stand strong in the face of political and media pressure.” She told the lawmakers the responsibility to choose electors was “yours and yours alone” and said they have “power to fight back against fraud.”

It's more than a little disconcerting that the wife of a SCJ is delusional.

Group Chat Linked to Roger Stone Shows Ties Among Jan. 6 Figures

It was known as F.O.S. — or Friends of Stone — and while its members shifted over time, they were a motley cast of characters.

There were “Stop the Steal” organizers, right-wing influencers, Florida state legislative aides and more than one failed candidate loyal to former President Donald J. Trump. One participant ran a website that promoted disinformation about the Capitol attack. Another was an officer in the Army Reserve allied with Michael T. Flynn, Mr. Trump’s former national security adviser.

At least three members of the group chat are now facing charges in connection with the riot at the Capitol in January 2021. They include Owen Shroyer, the right-hand man of the conspiracy theorist Alex Jones; Enrique Tarrio, the onetime chairman of the Proud Boys; and Stewart Rhodes, the leader of the Oath Keepers militia.

But the focus of the chat was always the man whose photo topped its home page: Roger J. Stone Jr., a longtime political operative and adviser to Mr. Trump.

    Roger's time in the barrel.........again?

Eastman provides new details of Trump’s direct role in legal effort to overturn election

John Eastman, the attorney who architected Donald Trump’s last-ditch legal strategy to overturn the 2020 election, revealed Friday that he routinely communicated with Trump either directly or via “six conduits” during the chaotic weeks that preceded the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

In a late-night court filing urging a federal judge to maintain the confidentiality of his work for Trump, Eastman provided the clearest insight yet into the blizzard of communications between Trump, his top aides, his campaign lawyers and the army of outside attorneys who were working to help reverse the outcome in a handful of states won by Joe Biden.

The filing also describes the direct role of Trump himself in developing strategy, detailing “two hand-written notes from former President Trump about information that he thought might be useful for the anticipated litigation.” Those notes are among the documents Eastman is seeking to shield via attorney-client privilege. Eastman said he would also speak directly with Trump by phone throughout his legal challenges to the election.

So, a conspiracy to defraud the American people.

There were a lot of communications between Trump and his political/legal team? Shocking!

It's the subject matter that's shocking. It reveals Trump's direct involvement in the attempt to legally justify the attempted coup.

It was an attempt to expose the illegal election result for what it was, it just looked like the other to you because of your frame of mind.

There's no evidence of that. It's like believing the Moon is made of green cheese.

Dude - didn't you see 2000 Mules??? That is all the proof they need. All of their other imaginary proof can be disregarded now

In other news, Dr Strange proved that the multiverse is real, and Space Jam 2 proved that Toons & Humans can co-exist happily

He had that perception and was within his rights to try to find the evidence. That is what you described him being guilty of.

Having trouble making up your mind? Because this....It was an attempt to expose the illegal election result for what it was....suggests you are still on board with the Big Lie. So was it a delusional perception or do you still believe it happened?

As for finding the evidence (which was within his rights to try to find), that course of action was exhausted as case after case was thrown out of courts overseen by judges of all stripes for the lack of it. But he didn't stop there.

He tried to develop a legal strategy for stealing the election, as described in post #1057, despite there being no evidence of fraud.

Whether a legal theory holds water or not is not in of itself a crime. Not even Eastman is facing charges, and he's the one who proposed the theory in the first place. I do like how our congress has wasted time on this during pressing matters for the American People.

There is an America beyond the Trump years, and there will continue to be. The great question is whether Democrats will participate in the post-Trump America. So far in two years, the answer is no even with a Democratic Administration.

On March 28, California federal district judge David Carter rejected those arguments as applied to most of the documents Eastman sought to protect. And in the process, he concluded it was "more likely than not" that President Trump committed felony obstruction in his efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

Read Judge Carter's full opinion and thousands more with a free trial of Westlaw Edge.

Former Law School Dean Gets Involved in Overturning Election
The documents and emails that the House Committee sought outlined legal theories under which former Vice President Mike Pence could reject, or at least delay, the count of electoral votes. In the final weeks of 2020, Eastman wrote a now public two-page memo proposing that Pence (then still in office) refuse to count electoral votes from seven states. Essentially, he argued that Pence had the power to ensure President Trump's re-election, regardless of the popular or electoral vote counts.

However, when the Vice President's counsel and Chief of Staff Mark Meadows met with Eastman on January 4, Eastman backed down significantly. He conceded that his argument was "contrary to consistent historical practice" and "would likely be unanimously rejected by the Supreme Court" for violating the Electoral Count Act.

I oppose the big lie which is what puts us on different sides of the issue. Of course there was voter fraud, there is in every election but the claim is it's so small in scale it doesn't effect the elections. The only way to prevent it doing that is strong voter laws and tightly supervised process. Human nature doesn't work on the honor system because of the sharks in the pool.

I don't need your acceptance to hold my own opinions and beliefs. We saw the same election in the same way the blind guys saw the elephant. You think I'm stupid and I think you're a pack kind of person. I can live with it and I see no need to convince you that you're wrong.
