So let's say this nutter doesn't have access to an AR15 or body armor. Let's go further and say he doesn't have access to a firearm.
This is the case for nutters in Australia, Japan, China etc. ----- no readily available guns (unless you can prove you are a hunter or
target shooter or security guy - license is hard to get BTW)
What to do? Well you could go and STAB someone. But that's a lot less lethal than an armalite. You might even get hurt when trying
to stab a lot of people. I suggest those 20 or so people would still be alive today.
So yes, banning firearms WILL significantly reduce firearm attacks.

The "left" and independents and many on the "right" in US support mental health checks too.

Trying to tie the killings to 'gender issues' is pretty weak, but it seems to be the new pseudo-con angle which is pushed even by Congress reps using fake photos.

They claim to have spend $600M in "hardening" schools, but this school sure seems like a soft & easy target.

This dude could have killed those kids with a machete. Who was going to stop him?

If you mean mental health checks to own a gun, then I absolutely oppose that.

Ah yes, I can just see 117,000 people hacked with machetes, and about 60,000 injured in machete accidents, or that many
trying to kill themselves with machetes.
No, guns are so devlishly convenient - the perfect killing machine.
See that guy who shot over a thousand rounds from the 32nd floor of a nearby hotel? Imagine how far he would have got if he
waded through that festival group, hacking at them. He would have put himself in great danger.

Yeah, you dodged that one nicely...lol.

I'll counter you intellectually dishonest post with this...

491,000 people were murdered with machetes during the Rwandan genocide.

Your discrimination based upon geography is illegal.

What pretexts would you contrive to take urbanites' guns away?

What do you propose to prevent shooty crackpots, regardless of their locale, from having easy access to firearms in America?

Gun fanciers need to ditch the mystique that firearms have for them. They are tools with lethal potential like automobiles that are registered, traceable if stolen or misused, and require evidence of competence to operate.

    Of course.

You're defending a system that allows American lunatics to be the best armed in the world.

I have seen the accusations of poor police response and tend to believe them but there are still conflicting reports being posted so when the dust settles in a week or so maybe we will finally get the full story. your link to the video doesn't work. It's not that I doubt it, the earliest story I read said something similar, that he went in a back door. I'm glad I'm not one of those officers this morning.

I believe the key word in his post was take them from criminals....

In other words enforce the laws as they already exist

He never said they did. He said massacres. Then you used the same list of massacres. Apparently you cannot read.

Edit: nor are you even getting the point. There was a bad massacre in ‘96 where guns were used, so they instituted some real restrictive gun laws. What was the result? Even more massacres occurred, but they didn’t have to use a gun to commit them. The law didn’t stop the massacres. In fact one could argue it increased them. So did their law really do anything to stop these horrific massacres? No. All it did was change the method and reduce the civil rights of others(idk enough about Australia to say if they had this particular civil right like we do over here before the laws).

I support a national carry license. The process to obtain one would be similar to what we have now for concealed carry license, which is a one-time deal. Once you get the license, you can buy and carry wherever you want. None of the requirements below are too much an inconvenience. I took CCW class, and it was not an inconvenience at all. It was actually very informative, since it was mostly about understanding the laws which gun owners need to be aware of if they want to stay out of legal trouble.

    Requirements
    - Mental health evaluation
    - Basic gun safety course
    - Criminal background check
    - Drug test. Junkies disqualify

There's video of the shootist entering an exterior door.

The school was notified 12 minutes of an active shooter before he got to the school. It ain't just the cops that ****ed the dog.

It is interesting to see how much people want to analyse the details the justification and loopholes.
    Priorities huh guys?
Rinse and repeat at the next massacre.

Those requirements will be abused by anti-gunners within the bureaucracy.

Not to mention, it'll take years to run the hundreds of millions of gun owners through the process.

Again, as I just said to him, the point of this discussion is about reducing gun massacres…..but I can understand why you’d want to deflect to something else……..oh boy…

Oh, perhaps in the way that the moron Cruz suggests…? That there should be only ONE door in and out of the building….?? That work for you too…?? (Please engage in some thought before you answer….)
