That would be great if we had the money to put more good cops on the street and in our neighborhoods. We don't. I live in a community where there is a brand new police cruiser stationed outside our high schools 24/7. But not all communities can afford that.

I'd propose putting a highly trained sheriff Deputy inside every school during school hours. It wouldn't have to be a new hire. I refer to existing deputies.

Of course, if a small town has 3 public schools and only one Deputy, then at least two teachers needs to be armed and trained.

Easier said than done. Young women especially don't go into teaching in order to serve as law enforcement officers.

I never use the overall statistics of deaths per gun because so many murders are criminals killing others.

What I do care about are the innocent people who die from crazy shooters in schools, in their workplaces, in their homes and so on.

And on this point, you can't deny it, the toll in the US is appalling.

The more pools there are in a city, the greater the chance of drowning.

The more guns there are in a country, the more mass shooting there is.

    Good advice!

Only a fool would let some BIG pharma strangers and their bureaucrat$ in government that talk to them on their "TELL-a-VISION" screens, coerce themselves into getting $hot up with an experimental vaccine, not only once, twice, but three times.

You wrote "Stop posting obvious bull ****. there has been 13 school shootings since 1966."

Where is the word "mass" in your statement

I think I have a solution for murders being committed in American public schools. This probably isn't the best place, so I'll start a new thread.

Quick snapshot of it: Place a small 'substation' manned by police officers (REAL police officers, armed-to-the-teeth) in each and every public school in the United States. Yes, taxes will go up, access to schools will be tightly constrained, people will bitch and complain, etc., but the likelihood of being able to keep creatures like Salvador Ramos from murdering people in American public schools would dramatically improve.

But note: this method could actually work, WITHOUT depriving the entire population of the United States of the ability to defend itself from murdering creatures like Salvador Ramos!

I can't provide specific language -- that would derive from a thorough and thoughtful process. But the concept would be to preserve lawful gun owners' rights while giving law enforcement more flexibility to deny gun ownership or possession to individuals judged threatening. Difficult, I'm sure, but doable, I think.

Gun deaths in the U.S.: 10 key questions answered | Pew Research Center
In 2020, the most recent year for which complete data is available, 45,222 people died from gun-related injuries in the U.S.,
according to the CDC, Center for Diseases and Control.

Re suicides. In my city Melbourne we had a bridge where many people jumped to their deaths. It was decided to errect
barriers. Critics pointed out that would-be-suiciders would just go somewhere else to die if this $100 million barrier was
built. Not so said the govt', suicide rates would reduce. And they did - people who would have gone to that Westgate
Bridge didn't go anywhere else. It's odd, but the bridge was associated with suicides in people's minds.
Same with guns. Magically errase all guns and would-be-suiciders are not that likely to reach a machete or noose. Guns
made it clean, easy and swift - after all, they were designed to kill.

No one expects you to have any kind of rational response since you don't understand why you can't have a nuclear bomb. Seriously.

You are going to 'head off the wackos', who is going to do this? The NRA wackos?
British wackos have a hard time getting guns - so many carry knives. But wading into a group of people with a knife
will expose you to personal harm, and your mission can be much more easily thwarted. In Britain being found with a
hand gun is serious business indeed - you go to jail FOR MAXIMUM OF FOURTEEN YEARS.
Firearms regulation in the United Kingdom - Wikipedia
This is why most police in England don't carry guns themselves - there's no need.
You want your kids to go to school in England or America?

Moral of this story: cops are terrific at checking out the scene after you have been murdered. They have no legal obligation to help you, nor should they. If they did, our nation would be bankrupted as every crime victim would have a cause of action for every failure. But ultimately, you are responsible for protecting you and yours.

Ha ha ha. Good one. I'll pay that. I even thought about Rwanda as I wrote this because this was all in the news.
Most people didn't have guns. But the context is all wrong - it's awfully hard when you are a 'lone axe man' and
facing some rather annoyed people.' Better to stand back, with your body armor, as a sixteen year old nutter, and
just blast everyone from a distance.

So one entrance/exit. Wonder how the school would be walled off, and would it have razor wire on top of
the concrete and steel wall? Kind of bleak thought. And schools are often huge, with access points on all
    four or more sides.
And if the state allows a 16 year old to buy body armor and military style rifles/machine guns, then whats
to stop said student just shooting his way in via that single gate - or standing outside and gunning down
    the kids as they leave?

    No. That is a fallacy

There is zero evidence that any mass shooter chooses a shooting area based on wether or not it is a “gun free” zone

This guy was 18 and he could have hacked everyone to death in that classroom. No one was going to stop him. We're supposed to expect 3rd graders to rally and go hand-to-hand with someone twice their size who's armed with a machete? Is that REALLY what you're going to ask of those kids?? Get real, man.

Pick your poison. I would rather have occasional cop abuse than mass shootings of children.

Right. The motto "To Serve And To Protect" is just a motto. It doesn't actually mean anything.
