FOX: Finland and Sweden joining NATO won't make U.S. safer

These FOX authors are Trump Republicans, and were actually in his staff while he was president. It seems FOX is beginning to work to turn Republican (or at least Trump Republican) opinion against having SWE/FIN join NATO. Its dangerous in the sense that those two countries have already applied for membership, so if US torpedoes the effort at this point, then they might face the wrath of Russia who now knows they wanted to join because of Russia.

I don't watch fox due to no cable. but let me try! I think the EU should unite for defense, really it's a European problem but I am not against letting them in NATO either.

 

Europe has united in defense. Its called NATO.

We'll see. Turkey opposes and now Trump supporters are also taking Russkie Mafioso side on the matter. SWE-FIN might end up regretting they even applied in the first place because they poked the hornets nest by doing so.

And NATO stronger. NOR-SWE-FIN plan to join their air forces and it would consist of about 400 modern aircraft they they would be responsible of defending their countries and Baltics, who are members with very small militaries. Also, Finland has mandatory military service for all males, and can raise 900K men in reserves, which makes them one of the largest contributors in Europe. If US sees NATO as something that is meant to benefit only US, then maybe its time to consider pulling out, because it was never meant for US only.

 

It's not like the US is defending either one.

 

It was not taken over by USSR.

 

NATO is mostly a European alliance. It will continue if Nth America sinks into the Atlantic, even more so.

 

Was there ever any doubt? they were OK with the Ukraine invasion before they were not now they are flipping again. The Trump GOP and Russia align for some weird reason.

 

Part of it was. And for want of trying. The Winter War was quite famous.

 

The Russkies got some chunks of land, but Finland was able to repeal the attack and retain independence, so FIN as a nation was never taken over.

 

It may not make the U.S. safer but it just might make Sweden and Finland safer. It is our moral duty to do all to fight corruption and cruelty were ever it raises it's ugly head. If we can act as a deterrent then so be it.

I have to agree. And I would love to see them join. Turkey however is the one that I believe will torpedo it. I don’t think you have to worry about us doing it

If we are not going to supply Ukraine with aircraft to defend themselves and allow Russia to continue to bomb civilians then my answer would be yes.

 

Turkey wants new planes from US, but we are not selling because they bought the Russian SAMs. So SWE-FIN is stuck in the middle. Turkey says they will delay the membership for 1 yr.
