    • The 2020 elections, chaotic and marked by races “too close to call,” have nonetheless reaffirmed that, at least in Washington, the two parties now speak for markedly different segments of the U.S. economy.
    • President Donald Trump carried 2,497 counties across the country that together generate 29% of the American economy, according to a new study by the Brookings Institution.
    • President-elect Joe Biden won 477 counties that together generate 70% of U.S. GDP.

Here is another devastating statistic for the Conservatives.

Republicans generate only 29% of the wealth in this country and still vote for a party that offers no policies that will make them richer.

Cities are blue, country is red. Cities concentrate gdp. Red makes it all possible. Blue is rich and homeless. Red is middle class.

There’s nothing here that wasn’t patently obvious, the real question is how did you not know it?

OK, I guess thats important if wealth is your priority.

Food production is about 5% of our GDP. But I reckon most folks will agree that its more important than just a statistic ...when they're hungry.

Any guess on what percentage of our GDP sewer maintenance is? My guess is its negligible. But how important is it that the toilets keep flushing?

Do you know how to fix your car?

The point being- wealth aint all there is.

Look up who produces the most food.

Cause I assure you if we turn off your food, you’ll give us all your money for us to turn it back on.

You do realize then, that the amount of income stolen and taken as grants, welfare and scams is much higher in those areas. Good for you.

But then, you develop your opinion based on stories from a place like CNBC, which hasn't reported anything honestly in years. Not so good for you.

    Come back to reality.

70% of this country's GDP is produced by the blue states.

That means that the vast majority of the people who create the wealth of this country trust the Democrats.

Not only the rich, but also those who create wealth.

18 of the 20 poorest states are Red.

The economy is my absolute priority.

If I remember correctly, guns are yours.

When priorities are in the wrong place, it means that those who vote like us only participate in the wealth of this country for 29%.

Would you prefer the US to be impoverished so that the conservative agenda can triumph?

I don't know about counties, but the evil blue metros in US actually generate 85% of the total economic output. The NYC metro alone generates more than the entire country of Canada.

Urban America: US cities in the global economy
85% of US GDP was generated by 259 large cities in 2010
    https://www.mckinsey.com/~/media/Mc...al economy/MGI_Urban_America_Full_Report.ashx

Economic output doesn't mean everyone is rich, it just meant the wealth is generated in those areas. Its where the economic 'action' is, and has always been, even before the industrial revolution.

Welfare, grants etc is alive and well in rural areas too.

No argument that the dems put economy as their #1 priority; they just don't want anybody else to have what they can beat them out of. If you're going to just blow smoke, you're wasting your time.
Takes honesty and character to build a free country- and an understanding that you carry your own weight. The dems are like crack addicts with daddy's credit card. Hunter Biden is their role model. They craft a facade as being exactly the opposite of what they do- and so long as people listen to the propaganda instead of looking at the actions, they fool them.

People are tiring of all this scam-o-rama the dems have been promoting over the last decade. The end of the shitstorm is near.

Do you know who designs your car? Do you know who develops the prescription meds that people depend on today?

This is how tired this argument is. We all are interdependent, that's the mechanism by which the free market economy works. That doesn't mean the farmer is better than the medicinal chemist, or the other way around.

    As to the OP:

It's an interesting statistic. Blue counties produce 70% of the GDP, but red counties hold 2/3 of the Supreme Court, and need 40 million less voters to achieve parity in the US Senate. Such is the unfairness of the US political system. One person one vote, my a$$. If you live in a low-producing rural county, somehow your votes counts multiple of the poor serfs who live in the cities.

If farms close business, someone else will take over. That's the way it rolls.

Its too bad you see everything as "us vs them".

Hmmmmmmmm, interesting number. We've got democrats generating 70% of the US GDP and 70% of the country saying that the country is headed in the wrong direction.

Half of NYCs GDP is in finance, banking, insurance, etc. i.e. rich people trading dollars.

    You have something against capitalism?

More anti-capitalist whining. If the land is for sale, then why are you opposed to someone actually buying it?

They generate 85%, but what does that have to do with opinion polls?

Though of late the generators of that GDP are abandoning those states and counties like rats leaving a sinking ship because those counties and states are eating the goose laying the golden eggs.

Democratic counties represent 70% of U.S. GDP

Pretty obvious. Democrat counties involve the larger cities where most democrats live and where most economic activity occurs. Is this supposed to be surprising?
