The Supreme Court is officially dead, thanks to republicans. To me, the only solution is to add more justices, to vanquish the conservative stranglehold on the court, which is one that doesn't reflect the majority of Americans.

This court doesn't reflect America, this is tyranny of the minority.

I don't give a damn if it's a bad law or not, if it allows a woman's right to abortion, I'll take it.

Well, we are not thrilled that rich women can easily get an abortion, and poor women will be left to use coat hangers and risk being maimed and death.
I recall my 15 year old sister, in the 60s, she didn't want to tell mom and dad, and she almost died trying to abort herself.

Republicans are no pro-life, they are pro-death, and pro-rich. All of their policies reflect this. They pay lip service to 'freedom' but work day and night to line the pockets of rich cronies and trample on the rights of the less advantaged. They pay lip service to 'small government'. Trump was the most corrupt president in history, and a majority of republicans want to reelect him. They lie when they accuse Biden of causing inflation when most of the inflation was caused by $1.9 trillion tax cut (partially funded by fiat dollars) and a $2trillion bailout ( 100% funded by fiat dollars) both signed into law by Trump, while the pandemic reeked havoc on the nation, and his incompetence by resisting testing in the incipient stages caused the upward trajectory of deaths to accelerate. Trump inflicted more chaos on the nation than any president in history and they want to reelect him? That is insane.

This won't stop abortions but it will increase injuries and deaths to poor women.

So, all I can say, is, I'll see you at the polls.

There is no idea more powerful than an idea whose time has come.

    And that idea is DEMOCRACY.

let me get this straight: you think the people deciding on a state by state basis through democracy and their state legislators the issue of what’s right for them on abortion is me telling other people how to live?

Welcome to democracy buddy. And if you can’t get that right it’s no wonder you’re stuck generations in the past. Majorities of Americans do not support abortion on demand any more than they support total bans on abortion. They come down in the middle, and the vast majority of states will be a patchwork of down the middle abortion laws.

Cause things have changed quite a bit since your day. I think you’ll find you have some catching up to do.

You would be incorrect in your assessment. But keep trying.

It will get legally messy, when women who have miscarriages are accused of getting an abortion. I presume it will go through family court, and that will ultimately end up with the judge.

Roe V. Wade lasted nearly half a century, but them ol' bumblin' Joe stumbled into office.

Like Obama said, you should never underestimate Joe's "abilities".

What it all boils down to, is Womens abortion activist insisted on saying it was their constitutional right and after HOW MANY YEARS they could never point to a single line in all of it that said any such thing...

It was their choice to bring the constitution in and that strategy finally failed from lack of context!

Glad to see the court not give in to the pressure from the mob.

Now, we get to see just how stupid the Left wing will get...lol. We're going to see insurrections, terrorism and riots. Stay strapped. These are dangerous times

We making any bets on where we're gonna have the biggest rioting? I mean, the irony is most of the riots are gonna take place in blue cities so we're once again gonna have the left actually eating their own. I can't see Target's being looted though.

BTW, I'm okay with abortions being on the books - actually, there's some days I look around and think we need MORE abortions, but that's on days when I feel real cynical about the future.

The regressive states will soon enact laws that ban it. That is my concern. Women who have no control over the law will now be held hostage by it, and especially for those who live in areas where even neighboring states have banned it.

Like I said, I do understand the reasoning behind the court decision. But it's effect will be destructive and regressive and I had hoped America knew better.

Each State will come up with laws it's population wants.

    It's that simple.

What about you purported civil libertarians screaming over assertions of autocratic government because of vaccine mandates for the public's safety while the government can now force a woman to have a baby against her will?

Abortions are still legal in all 50 states. Why do people not begin to understand that? Will one or more states potentially make it illegal? It is very possible. If they do that and you don't agree, this nation guarantees you the freedom to seek residency elsewhere.

Liberals here talking about coat hangers and poor people and women's rights are just vomiting lies.

The argument from the conservative side though is that it technically isn't bodily autonomy because the body of the fetus though connected is biologically separate from the mother. It's not a two-fer-one deal(well, depending. There's the controversial double-murder charge that's given whenever a pregnant woman is murdered. We're not consistent on this front at all.)

Sounds like something the RW government in Poland is trying to do.... won't be long before something like this is attempted in our fascist states...

    https://www.euronews.com/2022/06/06...-pregnancy-register-amid-strict-abortion-laws

Margaret Atwood will now be seen as the modern day Nostradamus for her spot on predictions...

As I said earlier to a poster who doesn't really give a crap, abortions will continue to occur in every city in every state in this country. Nobody is going backwards on this issue...

    it absolutely does.

This was not about autonomy over ones own body it was about the states right to have the authority over your body thru the democratic process (representation).
