Snip: "Alex Jones launched a failed bid to destroy text messages mistakenly sent to the lawyers of Sandy Hook families as a jury deliberates on damages owed by the Infowars host for defamation. Mr Jones’ attorney Andino Reynal filed for an emergency motion for protection on Thursday morning and also requested a mistrial over the texts he sent in error as part of discovery. Mr Reynal said the texts contained private medical records and communications covered by attorney-client privilege, and accused the plaintiff’s attorney Mark Bankston of looking at files unrelated to the case. “We have a situation here which is akin to me mistakenly giving him the key to a room, and he opens the door to the room and instead of finding what he expected find other doors,” Mr Reynal said. “It appears they want to have a mistrial.” Cont: Alex Jones loses bid to destroy texts mistakenly sent to Sandy Hook lawyers | The Independent
Did you just realize the media is about stories to sell ads? Nobody who wants accurate info pays any attention to any 24/7 reality tv shows and their internet spinoffs.
Well then, if that's the case the left wouldn't have a politician to vote for, and they would all be in jail ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Frankly, I'm afraid of how blithely fold are who make a claim and when asked for proof, dodge, deflect, and throw out ad homs. You may be correct, but for some reason, you won't show why you are correct.
“We have a situation here which is akin to me mistakenly giving him the key to a room, and he opens the door to the room and instead of finding what he expected find other doors,” Mr Reynal said. LOLOLOL.... I mean 98% of what the lawyer was given probably cannot be used in a Sandy Hook compensation trial, but the mere THOUGHT that an opposition lawyer is in possession of 2 years of his texts must be making Alex's tiny little testes dance in uncertainty... What a great story... this could continue to give awesome quotes for the next week to 10 days... Ain't getting a mistrial either.... defendant doesn't get to benefit from his own lawyers incompetence...
Not looking good for Alex. You cannot let politics ruin your life. On Monday night Tucker pushed some idiot conspiracy that Biden and Pelosi want a real full scale hot war with China that we would lose.
Oh yeah, here's another door that's been opened 1/6 committee!! https://www.thedenverchannel.com/ne...asks-for-mistrial-after-texts-mistakenly-sent
Snip: "These hearings are the first of several damages trials that Jones will face in the coming months. The others pertain to separate defamation cases brought by the families of victims of the Sandy Hook shooting. One, filed in Texas by Leonard Pozner and Veronique De La Rosa, the parents of another child killed at the Connecticut elementary school, seeks damages from Jones for his repeated suggestions that the massacre did not happen. admission came during testimony yesterday at a trial in which he is Another, filed in Connecticut, involves almost a dozen different families whose loved ones were killed in the shooting. Those families similarly sued Jones for defamation, and alleged that he pedaled falsehoods about the tragedy with intent "to increase his audience and his sales." They have also accused Jones of surreptitiously moving funds out of Free Speech Systems prior to the company's recent filing for federal bankruptcy protection. Although Jones claimed to be bankrupt before jurors during the damages trial in Heslin and Lewis' case, he was reprimanded outright by the presiding Judge Maya Guerra Gamble, who said the bankruptcy status had yet to be determined. Jones has already lost each suit brought by the families of those killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School, and the damages trials taking place this year are only meant to determine the dollar amounts he is ordered to pay each plaintiff. Last September, District Court Judge Maya Guerra Gamble handed down rare default judgments that found him liable for defamation and emotional distress in the Texas cases, citing his history of "bad faith and callous disregard" for court procedures throughout the time the lawsuits were underway. Judge Barbara Bellis followed suit with a similar default judgment in the Connecticut case that November. As the founder and public-facing head of InfoWars, Jones infamously uses his platform to fuel factually inaccurate beliefs about extreme national tragedies, like the 9/11 attacks and other mass shootings in addition to Sandy Hook. For years he published digital and video content claiming the Sandy Hook massacre was a government "hoax," and a "false flag" concocted by the "deep state" in an effort to increase gun control across the U.S. He suggested the shooting and subsequent media attention was "staged" and described grieving families as government "actors" who worked on behalf of whomever supposedly orchestrated the scheme. Giving testimony in court this week, Heslin and Lewis said Jones' lies and the resulting emotional and physical threats from his followers made their lives "a living hell," and recalled instances where people who believed his false claims sent them threatening emails and shot at their home and car. In his own testimony to the family in court on Tuesday, Jones admitted that he knew the Sandy Hook massacre was "100% real." "Especially since I've met the parents. It's 100% real," he said, and replied in the affirmative when his attorney asked if he understood that it was "absolutely irresponsible" to push false claims about the shooting. "They (the media) won't let me take it back," Jones said." Cont: As Texas jury deliberates, Alex Jones has more legal troubles ahead (msn.com)
Either the two attorneys are working together or Jones' attorney did it to push for a mistrial. One of my law professors told the class that it's totally legal to "slip up" in front of a jury because you can't make somebody unhear something. He went on to tell us that, in fact, having the judge instruct the jury to disregard a statement cements it in their heads. P.S. I know violence is not okay but every time I think of Jones, all I think about is him calling the cops saying his wife beat him up.
And, we certainly don't want that craziness back in our White House. They will just have to upgrade to get more trash tv. We want adults interested in leading our nation, not a carnival act.
Probably because I've had this conversation with you people before. We've been over and over this fact that the case you're citing is old and bad law. You could try googling "If fire in a crowded theatre the standard anymore" if you didn't know the case name. Hell: You could try googling "what's the fire in a crowded theatre case" ffs. https://www.theatlantic.com/nationa...g-the-fire-in-a-crowded-theater-quote/264449/ https://scholarship.law.wm.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1748&context=wmborj https://www.whalenlawoffice.com/legal-mythbusting-series-yelling-fire-in-a-crowded-theater/ https://abovethelaw.com/2021/10/why...istorts-any-conversation-about-online-speech/ https://www.yipinstitute.com/article/fire-in-a-crowded-theatre-discontinue-the-irrelevant-rebuttal For the love of god go read something
If you think bankruptcy isn't a thing I can't help you. I'm sorry you don't understand how things work but still want to have your opinion.
Yes, I understand your point now. I try to avoid that kind of thing so I didn't know how horrible he actually is. In that case, I'd recommend that he gets sentenced to a prison and placed with prisoners that have lost a child due to no fault of their own. They'll get him sorted out right.
I'm not going to pretend I know how US bankruptcy laws work (although I'm damned sure you don't either), but if he manages to avoid whatever damages are going to be awarded here, there are going to be new laws written to avoid that in the future. Sounds like everybody is aware of what he is trying to do and will move heaven and Jones to make it not happen... Surely you aren't onboard with a man trying to avoid his future responsibilities, are ya?? (sarcasm.... of course you are) https://www.axios.com/2022/08/03/alex-jones-sandy-hook-trial-bankruptcy
I did take a BK course. I will admit to being about half **** faced through it though. Still got a high B. The point of bankruptcy is that at some point you simply cannot receive further blood from a stone. His companies are already underwater, this will be just another debt in line. The companies will be liquidated based on debt priority, everyone takes a hair cut and many get poured out, and I would almost guarantee you immediately afterwards he sues his lawyer for malpractice to collect. Asking me whether or not I'm on board is a specious question asked in bad faith. Bankruptcy laws exist, and they've helped far shadier persons skate damages than Alex "they're turning the frogs gay" Jones. You don't get to discriminate against the person under the law because they're vile.
Hmmm....you sure about that...? https://www.npr.org/2022/08/04/1115674589/alex-jones-texts-jan-6-committee
