For some time, I wrongly believed Democratic strategists erred by directing the continued relentless, vicious attacking and demeaning of Trump, the Republican party, and republicans. Today, republicans sheepishly refrain from expressing their support for Trump, conservatism, or revealing their political affiliation for fear of retribution or being ostracized. The assault on freedom of speech is succeeding.

But then again, there is the ballot box.

If the democrats would have held her accountable perhaps more Republicans would hold Trump accountable. But then that double standard factor comes into play.

It's quite possible to like Trump's tax cuts and policies, his positions and actions regarding border security and immigration, as well as his textualist/originalist SCOTUS Justice picks but at the same time realizing he's a pompous ass. I knew him personally long before he entered politics, and could have told you the latter part many years ago.

You could also say he is single handedly responsible for saving the 2A, since HRC was on the record that she would appoint Justices that would have gutted it to the point of irrelevance and meaninglessness by acting as an unelected super-Legislature.

Bordering on obsession? That passed that line long ago. I agree with you that it would be better if Trump didn't even run for two reasons:

1. Yes, the left would go out of their ever lovin obsessed minds and the result would be another 4 years of the country obsessed with something they shouldn't be obsessed about, instead of dealing with our problems. It's a horrible thing that the left could actually win out on this by being so obsessed with Trump to the detriment of the country. They shouldn't be allowed to win like this but, unfortunately, it is what it is. But, it's an entirely different thing if democrats actually succeed in abusing their power to the point Trump can't even run. That would make this country close to being like Nazi Germany.

2. Trump would spend four years getting revenge on everyone who wronged him. It would be revenge that he certainly deserves to get but, nonetheless, his obsession with revenge would also be to the detriment of the country. It wouldn't be that way if the left hadn't gone totally TDS bonkers but, again, it is what it is and even though Trump deserves every bit of justice he can get, the country would suffer during that process. It would be better if we had a different president and Trump could exact his revenge in other ways.

 

If that were true Trump not only would have been convicted in the 1st impeachment trial, he never would have been nominated.
