Thanks, great post that is embedded in reality. I don't see semi-automatics banned in your lifetime, but I do see them being highly regulated eventually. Subsequent generations are getting fatter and lazier (metaphorically speaking). In an odd way, aside from the rabid left in the US, think the "black crime issue" keeps the guns flowing. If you ever solve that I think the desire to maintain powerful fast-shooting weapons will dissipate.

I haven't heard ppl finding it odd when they got prove that they own a car. Nobody links getting it down in writing owning a certain car with some kind of "innocence". so which is it? the laws are too tough causing a very high % of people locked up, or the laws are weak causing criminals not to be locked up?

Totally unproven that they do not work. In fact. Illinois shows that their tougher gun laws is causing criminals to get their weapons out of state. That shows that tougher gun laws work. If all states would follow it would mean they can't get their guns that easy in the US. While criminals right outside the US get their guns from the US. So you do not have to worry that they are going to sneak all of them gun in.

The US is already world champion locking people up % wise and overal numbers. The policy has been tried and is not working. Nothing shows that doubling down is going to get a different result.

 

There are approximately 400 million guns in the United States. The toothpaste is not going back in the tube and guns are here to stay
