With gun sales down I guess prices could get competitive again, guess I’ll have to find yet another gun that I can’t live without and make yet another purchase. Thought I was done with the AR I picked up a year ago but you can never have to many guns!!! Guess I’ll need a new safe as well to fit it. And here I thought all I needed was 10, than 12, now 15………

I'm not seeing a collapse in demand for......anything else. 63% decline is significant, and simply cannot be explained by "people are buying less of everything". As a matter of fact, we have a supply side problem, not a demand problem in most goods.

republicans buy on emotion, and right now the future is looking up, do not need to stock pile guns

Demand =\= purchasing. As you mentioned, supply issues can decrease availability and increase demand. But so can increased prices and/or decreased affordability. And thats what most Americans have right now- less purchasing power. Things are more expensive, so people are buying less in general. Makes sense that would include guns.

Saturation? A sponge can only hold so much water. It's not like guns wear out and have to be replaced.

It might make sense to you, but we already discussed the price of guns and they are same as before, or even less. When demand plummets, so do prices.

This collapse in gun sales is simply not explained by what you are saying.

IMO people simply do not see a need to worry about their guns being taken away. NRA needs to step up their efforts to sow that fear again

If that's the case, then this trend is likely permanent, but why so sudden?

It's interesting that the majority of guns are made in the USA, and aren't subject to planned obsolescence like so many things are nowadays.

I will agree with saturation being a cause for a reduction in sales. After you have one in every room in your home, a few extras and a couple more after that, they look funky as wall decorations in the kitchen, or artfully arranged next to the sink in the bathroom. :)

Between inflation cutting into people's budgets and the fact that so many were purchased in '20 and '21 its no wonder sales have gone down.

Lack of funds due to the economy, in tandem with saturation? Who knows. I assume they're still with us and haven't been taken up in the rapture. ;-)

He’s a troll, probably hasn’t ever bought a firearm. He’ll say anything to push his point.

Lack of funds has never kept people from spending money on guns (or anything else), especially when they can be had for cheap. Heck, $1000.00 iPhones are still flying off the shelves (most ever sold last year. and 1st Qt 2022 was best ever Qt).

Lack of motivation is more likely cause, but the "who knows" is correct and also stated in the article.

Its not like people are not buying guns anymore, its just that they are buying a lot less than during the pandemic times, which saw a spike in sales.

A lot of people are getting smart and either building their own guns or making their own ammo. 80% lowers for the win!

No they are not! But, suppose that was true then that would mean you would have no problem if new gun sales were banned since you can make your own

It's like having lots of toilets when you can only use one at à time.

You can make your own toilet paper too. Shall we ban readymade?

I can't speak for other countries, but the standard amount of toilets in most houses is two.

You could be in one room, someone breaks in, do you tell them to wait a minute while you run upstairs to where your gun is? You are out on your tractor when a angry black bear decides you are too close to it's cubs, do you try to out run it, or tell it to not hurt you too badly? Or use the shotgun that you keep on the tractor....

Don't most tractors have cabins with doors......? Of course you can have a gun in every room and barn + one in every vehicle if you fear a bear attack, or you can carry one on you. To each his own. Either way, the gun buying frenzy has quieted down. Riots are over and crime is coming down, and there is no real threat of new gun laws, so I guess people just don't feel the need.

You do realize how you look when you're clearly uneducated on a topic, right? https://80lowers.com/

There's more sites than you can count selling 80% lowers and people build their own all the time, myself included. No there is no reason to ban anything weapon related, that's beyond stupid.

You have toilets you can walk around with from room to room?

So having à gun in every room and vehicle is prudent? Surely you then need one in a drawer in every corner of each room, near every shower , under every bed and at least half a dozen in every outbuilding.
    I call this paranoïa overload.
The NRA and their congressional lackeys continue to thrive.

Can't a bear get by on one or two trees. Why does it need a whole forest. To scratch on when the need arises, of course. It could be that the desire for more and more guns is the want to be free, to roam, sniff out, and just be a bear.
