…Trump opened with “We are a nation in decline” and concluded with “It is time to start talking about greatness for our country again.”

The nearly four-minute online post had the feel of Trump’s 2015 address to supporters after riding down a golden staircase in his Trump Tower, a scene Politico dubbed “The Escalator Ride That Changed America.”

Missing was a mention of alleged fraud in the 2020 election, an issue aides have been urging him to shelve and instead focus on bread-and-butter issues that won him the 2016 election over heavily favored Hillary Clinton.

In the video, Trump hit on the sinking economy, the gas crisis, Biden’s abandonment of Afghanistan, and his favorite target, “fake news.”

He also said the Justice Department has been “weaponized” against him, a charge leveled by several top Republicans after last night’s FBI raid.

“We are a nation that in many ways has become a joke,” said Trump, who ran on a campaign theme in 2016 of "Make America Great Again," followed up by a 2020 theme of "Keep America Great." Lately, he has been touting a "Save America" theme.

Trump is expected to announce his decision about running in 2024 after the midterm congressional elections, though some insiders have speculated he might announce earlier to fight the multiple court cases he is facing….

merica is an exceptional nation. It is only logical and reasonable that one who loves America would campaign on returning us to greatness and reversing policies of the current regime that have deliberately by conscious choice deprived us of it. 2024 will be all about saving America and a return to greatness, freedom, rights, and liberty.

Trump is finally pivoting away from significant talk about the 2020 election and to key issues regarding 2024, his ideas for America and a critic of the policies of the current regime. The recovery of the greatness of America is a perfect issue to run on if he does decide to run.

I know the left hates Trump, heck, they hates lots of things, but what are they going to campaign on in 2024? Heck, what are the midterm libs campaigning on? Some of them don’t even want to be in the same city with Biden or Harris when they show up.

The GOP has a problem, the Republican Party is still the smaller of the two major parties, hence they must win the independent vote or lose the election. Independents don’t like Trump much, history has shown people don’t usually vote for someone they dislike.

Trump is hurting the Republican Party for this year’s midterms although most in the GOP won’t admit that. History shows that when a president has an approval rating of around 40%, his party loses on average 48.5 house seats and 6 senate seats. But independents are very hesitant to vote for a Trump led party. Especially since a lot of Trump endorsed candidates which most won the Republican nomination are very poor, lousy general election candidates with little appeal to the independent voter.

Projections as of today for the midterm, 18-20 house seat gain for the GOP, but a one seat pickup in the senate for the Democrats along with a gain for the Dems of 3 governorships. That isn’t a red wave, even those 18-20 house seats may be slipping to even lower gain of 8-10. Have you looked at the generic congressional ballot lately?

    https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/2022-generic-congressional-vote-7361.html

A 3.5-point lead in June has slipped to just an 0.1 lead today. Perhaps you also need to look at some of the senate races, Fetterman in PA leads Oz by 11, Kelly in AZ is up by 11 over Masters, your man Budd leads in NC by just 0.3 of a point. A shocker in the making, Ryan in OH leads Vance by 4.5, in GA, it’s Warnock by 2.7 over Walker, Cortez-Masto in NV leads by 2 over Laxalt.

Still time left for all the above to change, but I doubt that it will. Not by much anyway. I think the GOP has a problem, especially among independents that they fail to recognize. Perhaps a shocking defeat in this year’s midterms might awaken them to what their, the GOP problem with independents actually is. Then again, maybe not. The only thing I’m certain of, there’ll be no red wave.

It is your President and it’s regime that are acting like the government of that nation you mention. It is fact and reported elsewhere that the politically inspired assault on the home of a former President is only going to further energize his base and gain him sympathy from more neutral observers

Trump talking about greatness is sort of like a thief talking about the why you should keep your money under your bed instead of in a safe or the bank.

I'm a republican and I'll be honest I don't want him to run. I want a President that's less of instigator that has set even moderates hair on fire. A president can pass laws, explain to the public policy without bragging, and even stomp MSM BS without personal attacks. I understand Trump was responding to idiot attacks when he acted like an idiot but him and Biden need to ride off in the sunset. We need new blood, new ideas and approaches that speak the majority of the country that's in the middle.

Lol…if the repubs lose the midterms, it will be because they continued to suck at trump’s teat. The more they tie themselves to a seditious traitor like trump, the more they repel voters.
They could have handily won the midterms, but they overreached with their abortion gambit and now they are threatening civil war if trump is indicted.
I keep telling people that everything trump touches turns to ****, and until the repubs grow a set and throw trump and his seditious gang to the curb, they will continue to lose support.

More important than Trump running again are these Trump backed candidates who are winning. Our government is full of rot and it will take more than one person to root out the rot.

Just look at the SCOTUS. It took more than one Trump appointed justice to improve that situation.

So what are you doing about it?
All I hear from the right are mindless excuses for an inexcusable series of actions by trump after losing the election.
When are you people going to stand up to trump?
Every day he continues to hold the repubs by the shorthairs, they lose more support and reputation.

We have nothing to stand up to. Many of us openly want and encourage him to run again, myself included. If Trump decides to run, virtually no one but one or more neocon never Trumpers will oppose him and he’ll be the nominee. If he doesn’t decide to run, the person closest to him in ideas, policies, and goals will be nominated and either way we and I will be ok with it.

What are you talking about? Do you think that there is only one news story or something. I abandoned the big story thread when even my opinion articles were moved into the one liberal source allowed. I occasionally respond to comments related to one of my buried articles but that is all. I openly abandon threads when they are merged into a liberals thread on a given issue or event

Liberals do not want to talk about the economy and high gas prices, food costs through the roof, general inflation, the recession we’re in, the stagflation, supply chain problems, wages no longer keeping up, etc.
