Trump under investigation for potential violations of Espionage Act, warrant reveals

Is Trump in panic mode? As I understand it, some TS/SCI docs have been recovered, these are highly sensitive documents to which he has none of the qualifications necessary to declassify the docs. As I understand it, Trump's classification authority is NOT absolute with respect to materials regarding nuclear weapons, their manufacture, their protocols and specs, etc.

Donald Trump is under criminal investigation for potential violations of the Espionage Act and additional statutes relating to obstruction of justice and destroying federal government records, according to the search warrant executed by FBI agents at the former president’s home on Monday.

The search warrant – the contents of which were confirmed by the Guardian – shows the FBI was seeking evidence about whether the mishandling of classified documents by Trump, including some marked top secret, amounted to a violation of three criminal statutes.

Most notably, the search warrant authorized FBI agents to seize materials from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence to investigate crimes in connection with the Espionage Act, which outlaws the unauthorized retention of national security information that could harm the United States or aid an adversary.


The other statutes listed on the warrant include [...]


18 USC 2071 Concealment, removal or mutilation
18 USC 793 Gathering, transmitting or losing defense information
18 USC 1519 Destruction, alteration or falsification of records in Federal Investigations

Some carrying ( as I understand it) sentences of up to 20 years in prison.

 

. . . It's going to be very difficult providing an innocent explanation for why he would keep top secret info in his personal possession.

Using the wrong server is going to provide more cover for intent than keeping clearly marked top secret documents on in a personal safe after you've been told for over a year to turn them over and you've even ignored a subpoena to do so.

 

Server at house with classified information on it versus a secret server protected house. Using email to send classified information in unsecure facilities and traveling to countries on unsecure networks. Time to put up or shut up and my fear is dumba$$ Garland and the left just gave Trump the golden ticket over 11 documents that were documented and filed by the GSA as packed and delivered. You are thinking like a typical lefty. Actually its a common easy mistake. You are grabbing those Christmas cards, and a couple of sycophant letters from your partisans in your final days in office, and right there, in the middle of the pile are these boxes of highly classified top secret files, dealing with our nuclear arsonal. You grab, board AirForce one and off you go. When federal govt officials ask over and over for the files, you naturally think they are talking about those Christmas cards, and letters. The whole thing rises or falls and what is found. As far as I can tell what was found has not yet been revealed. trump's argument of declassification will not hold up if there are nuclear documents there

Any document means any document. It's going to be a steep hill to argue this in court. It will probably take years (at least past 2024) to reach the SC. By then he'll be POTUS and will either pardon himself or have the VP do it.

The kangaroo court better hurry things up and they're ever going to "get" Trump!
