The Democrats’ new reconciliation bill isn’t just going to be the largest-ever expansion of a government agency. It’s going to be the largest expansion of the domestic police state in American history. Only a statist could believe that a federal government, which already collects $4.1 trillion every year — or $12,300 for every citizen — supposedly needs 80 battalions of new IRS cops.

The average American has less reason to be concerned about cops with guns — though the IRS is looking for special agents who can “carry a firearm and be willing to use deadly force, if necessary” — than they do bureaucrats armed with pens who are authorized to sift through their lives. If you pay your taxes you have nothing to worry about, Democrats claim. But most law-abiding citizens know they have something to fear from a state agency that doesn’t concern itself with your due process, has no regard for your privacy and is empowered to target anyone it wants without any genuine oversight…

…and promised that “audit rates won’t increase for anyone making under $400K.”

This is a lie. Nothing in the bill that Democrats passed through the Senate limits audits. Murphy, along with every other Democrat in the Senate, voted against a Republican amendment that would have prevented new agents from auditing individuals and small businesses with less than $400,000 of taxable income…

…Indeed, poor and middle-class Americans are far more likely to do their own taxes, and thus more prone to making mistakes. In 2021, those making $25,000 or less (often the young and elderly) were audited at a rate five times higher than everyone else. The wealthier you are the more likely it is that you can hire lawyers and accountants to work within the system. There aren’t enough millionaires and billionaires in the world to keep a potential new 87,000 IRS employees busy.

There are other overlooked aspects of the Democrats’ IRS expansion. The bill, for instance, strengthens the federal public-sector union monopoly that funds Democrats’ political aspirations…

his The Federalist article is exactly right. This is a tool to expand the police state. Every Democrat in the senate voted against an amendment to protect everyone earning under 400k from these new stasi agents.

And they are advertising for agents who are able to handle weapons and be willing to shoot to kill if need be.

Instead of 87,000 IRS agents how about we have 87,000 security agents in the public schools?

That has to be one of the most puzzling parts of the bill.

87,000 armed IRS agents. That is frightening.

The Inflation Reduction Act, a landmark climate, health care and tax package that passed the Senate on Sunday and is expected to head to Biden’s desk after the House approves it on Friday, includes roughly $78 billion for the IRS to be phased in over 10 years. A Treasury Department report from May 2021 estimated that such an investment would enable the agency to hire roughly 87,000 employees by 2031. But most of those hires would not be Internal Revenue agents, and wouldn’t be new positions.

According to a Treasury Department official, the funds would cover a wide range of positions including IT technicians and taxpayer services support staff, as well as experienced auditors who would be largely tasked with cracking down on corporate and high-income tax evaders.

    1. Who is going to pay for this?

    2. Why do they need armed agents, won't social workers do the job?

    3. What is the left going to say when a guy gets shot over $18.00 in back taxes, especially if the guy was among the left's favored people?

    4. 87,000 new democrat voters along with their families.

    5. Most IRS employees make well over $100,000, they're impossible to fire, and they have life long benefits. Nice

    6. What was wrong with the way IRS was handling things before?

    7. 87,000 new Lois Lerners, what can go wrong?

The right does not support law and order, when it may impact their right to cheat on their taxes.

I assume you have proof to back that up. Otherwise it is just the usual BS.

Only if you plan on attacking the organization, or eliminating your liability with extreme prejudice by going on the offensive.
We have the second amendment, whats the problem? My cousin plans on applying. The gun part got him excited.

Why would any IRS agent need to be armed?

They tell you during onboarding im sure.
Maybe to defend themselves during an attack, which happens. Or its a generic hiring template for multi tasking agents.

You don’t think providing law enforcement for safe K-12 schools for our kids is a bigger priority than a bunch of IRS agents?

They deleted that portion of the help wanted ad after it was exposed on conservative media.

Everything can go wrong. When Trump is elected President and we have a GOP congress, they can simply not fund those new positions in the following budget years.

Most middle and working class people never knew they cheated and simply made a mistake or two filing their own return. That’s where most audits happen.

Law and order means arming police- not making a militia out of your tax collectors.
Everything has a balance; if it does not, it's corrupt.
