As usual, the gun banner crowd is totally out of reality. Gun "power" whether its bullet size or magazine size or the looks of the gun have no relevance to mass shootings. Some mass shooters used hand guns (Virginia Tech for example). The Sandy Hook shooter changed magazines frequently even when they were more than half full. And the number of mass shootings is small, its just sensationalized for political purposes. Just stop pretending you are interested in public safety and are trying to find "reasonable" or "common sense" reasons to restrict firearms. Nobody is fooled, nobody believes you. You want to ban guns.
Wheel weights are mostly not lead anymore. My uncle's last batch of lead came from a couple truck batteries. If you see a hotel or office building being torn down, a couple cases of beer might get you some lead: elevator weights. He got a pickup-truck load of elevator ballast a few years ago and still hasn't used it all. Cost him two 30-packs of beer and a pint of Smirnoff.
Bullets used in hunting generally go home with the hunter in the game animal where they are removed by the hunter during processing. The amount of lead left in the field by hunters using bullets is not measurable. However, lead in the environment resulting from fishing is. Some popular fishing areas have been found to have 100 pieces of lead per square yard! Of course you should be able to point me to a thread where you oppose fishing based on lead in the environment…. Another argument from you based on emotion instead of evidence.

in all fairness,a most all the gun control ideas-when presented as crime control or public safety measures, are awful. Of course, most of the proponents only pretend that the real goal of their schemes is public safety-rather than harassing honest gun owners while pretending to DO SOMETHING
As somebody else mentioned, it has nothing to do about keeping children safe. OP just wants to see his political opposition disarmed. That’s all it is. He knows the vast majority of gun owners are red voters and that pisses him off.
being able to acquire ammunition for your firearm is part of keeping and bearing arms. You can make your own firearms, ergo you can make your own ammunition. For what gun laws you may have, see anything in place around the time of the ratification of the bill of rights. Hint: There weren't any of the sort you want.

Correction: there are two times when you can have too much ammo - when you're swimming and when you're on fire.
Believe it or not you good at gun ranges that have burned those burns are full of lead and if you ask them they'll let you have it. You can use wheel weights it's just the density of that metal is a little different some sort of dirt cheap alloy. That being said it's not a whole lot different but if you're used to the very specific kind of performance out of rifle or pistol yet you'll have to adjust accordingly. Hurt casting that sort of thing I actually just go to the fishing supply you can buy a little crucible metal cook fish weight material which is probably some sort of lead alloy. But I only really use that for the 50 cal muzzleloaders. As ball and minié ball is relatively easy to cast. I used to do it on an old backpacking stove You can also get a lead pig ingot which is about 50 lb for 100 bucks all the way down to quarter pound nuggets that are 50 cents a piece. I saw somebody you're not Etsy was selling ingots they cast themselves with the inscription redneck gold on it.
why do anti gunners fashion ridiculous choices such as that. That has no logical value and is really really dishonest
and all your plans would do is limit access to those LEAST LIKELY to harm innocents while having zero impact on those most likely to shoot children. Gun banners' proposals are all about handicapping honest citizens and making things safer for criminals
