I think, whether they have the documents or not, the purpose of this propaganda is to stir up Americans against each other. It is already known these documents have been compromised, so the change of strategy happens either way. Trump may have been preferred over Clinton, but the goal has always been to undermine the US, and what better way to do that than to add fuel to the conflict over Trump. Now if Trump is the nominee, and the other nominee is decidedly worse for Russian interests, they could just as easily be pro-Trump again, but only for the purpose of helping Putin's Russia.

The whole Russian media saying they have had them for years is directed at the American people, not Trump or Biden or the Intelligence communities. They want us to shift the focus from the legal arguments of why they were there in the first place to what the Russians really have from Mar A Lago.

 

Because the DOJ had already adjudicated it.

Better question is will Trump be held to the same standard.
