In the context of this discussion....So you are arguing that people voting against someone (Cheney) that vehemently opposes someone they support strongly(Trump), that even goes one step further and is part of the enemy(Cheney) constitutes being in a cult?

If that is in fact your position, that is silly. Supporting a candidate does not constitute a cult. If a Senator had emerged as the most vociferous opposition to Obama or Bill Clinton back in the day, do you honestly think that they would have won a primary race anywhere in this country? Of course not.

Hageman has not one thing to do with this reality. A lot of people, myself included, were apoplectic when Trump won the nomination because they thought his chances of winning the general election were zero. To sit here 6 years later and rehash the civil war that goes on in every party during their presidential primary as if it has significant meaning for the long haul is a colossal waste of time. It is as if you folks will cling to literally ANYTHING to push your false narrative. I despised Trump during the primary for the reason above, and ended up liking him very much after he won. That doesnt mean that me coming around on him was because of the existence of a cult, it only means that once he delivered a victory and started pushing policies that I support, my opinion of him changed. I suspect a similar situation exists with Hageman. This doesnt equate to a cult, rather it is merely the every 4 year civil war that happens in both party's when selecting a nominee for President. You are way overplaying that hand, or more accurately, the left wing blogosphere is overplaying when feeding you this tripe as if it were significant.

As Rand Paul said, "Bye Liz!" Wyoming has spoken and don't bother trying to run for President. You won't even poll on the GOP side as high as Kamala Harris did on the Democrats side (she polled the worst of them all).

More nonsense. You like his policies? Like when he said his rich buddies would hate his tax policy because they were going to pay more, then he gutted their taxes?

Or you like his family separation policy?

    His Covid handling?

He had no major policy he pushed through other than tax cuts!

No I am not from Portland. I have lived in rural Oregon small towns ranging in population 3000, to 18,000. My views are right in the center of my party and very popular among Dems. We don't want to attract the beliefs, and the agendas of Donald Trump supporters into our party. The white nationalist /anti -immigration streak alone in that wing of the republican party raises the hair on the back of our neck. They tend have a real problem with people of color and spanish speakers. Once you add the anti abortion, anti gay and anti trans views and the antipathy for science, there is no way we ever want to beholden to them at primary or general election time. Look what havoc they have wrecked on the moral and intellectual authority of a party that endorsed individual liberty, accountability and law and order!

She was supposed to represent the State of Wyoming. She was failing in that duty. She should have resigned.

There is the old saying. You cannot serve two masters.

You think her goal is to win the office? LOL, I think she 'll end up doing, is switch to as very conservative alternative independent campaign if she starts losing too many primaries and split the Republican vote so that a Democrat can squeak through.

So you are wanting to take this thread about Liz Cheney, and you want to turn it into a discussion about why I like Trump policies? Does that make sense to you? LOL, so you are trying to insinuate that a person is not even allowed to like Trump policies? Yeesh.

That is ridiculously off topic and certainly not a way to have a productive conversation. No thank you.

You also didnt even respond to the gist of my previous post. I rebutted your cult narrative and you didnt bother to respond to it.

I could see that as a good plan... if she was at least semi popular. As it stands, the only faithful she has is her Democrat friends. She'd actually do more harm against the Democrats than the Republicans.

Trump bootlickers, who kiss his ring to stay in power, i.e. the vast majority of today's Trump party, maybe "smart" about short term political (and personal) gain. However, in doing so, they throw principles overboard and will not be remembered kindly in history. I don't like this kind of "smart".

She voted with Trump 93% of the time he was in office. That means she supported his policies. Isn't that what his supporters kept claiming? That they may not like the man but loved his policies? But heaven forbid she should see his actions as traitorous to the office and investigate. Now she is scum. So I think its time everyone be honest...it wasn't about his policies, it was about the man!

Her policies are not remotely popular. On every issue she is way too conservative. Now who do you know that like and support those pro-life, pro capital punishment, pro water boarding, anti tax, anti-immigration , anti marriage equality, anti environment views?

"We have to not be afraid of being called obstructionists. Obstructing President Obama's policies and his agenda isn't actually obstruction; it's patriotism."

From 2017 to 2021, Cheney voted in line with Trump's position around 93% of the time, supporting him more consistently in House votes than many House Republican members, even his former chief of staff Mark Meadows.[79] In 2019, according to the New York Times, Cheney publicly feuded with Rand Paul over who was "Trumpier".[80] According to The Atlantic, she was a "loyal Trumpist" and helped build "the party of Trump" at that time.[81]

We admire her courage and tenacity, but we are not going to be drawn to her over a Democrat. Especially if her campaign message is not designed to gain our votes. If I am right, she won't want to 'move to the center' politically to challenge Biden for centrist votes. She will stay cemented in the rhetoric of political conservativism and attack Trump incessantly.

Yes, but in the end she acted on behalf of the Deep State with all that nonsense in the Jan 6 committee. What a Dog & Pony Show that was, all for the benefit of the Deep State.

I despise her father for his treason, and I despise her for her treason. That doesn't mean I love Trump. It means ONLY that she serves the Deep State just as her father does.

Before her rejection of Trump, she was praised by all republicans. She definitely is a victim of Trumpmania.

You'd have to be deaf, dumb and blind not to have seen this coming, whether she won or lost yesterday's primary.

Liz Cheney considers run for president after Republican primary defeat
    Source: The Guardian

Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney has announced she is considering her own run for the White House in an all-out effort to prevent Donald Trump from winning another term as US president.

Cheney decisively lost her Republican primary race on Tuesday night and will lose her seat in the US Congress.

The Trump-backed challenger Harriet Hageman beat Cheney by almost 40 points as Wyoming voters took revenge for her voting to impeach Trump and for focusing on her role on the January 6 House select committee.

Let me give a hint to the Guardian: It's primarily the second one, not the first one. Unlike the Liz supporters here, I want to reiterate: It is not a badge of honor to abdicate one's own office, specifically the officer of representation and then give the people a middle finger. Imagine that instead it was George W. Bush and some Liberal house member focused all of their efforts towards investigating Bush war crimes.

No votes for minimum wage increases, or college tuition. Just purely focused on investigating Bush war crimes. You'd be pissed. Then this candidate utilizes not public funds(because he/she can't get any because the voters are rightly pissed about the abdication) but instead overly relies more on shadow money.

BTW, Dems showed their true colors in support for Liz Cheney's shadow money. Democrats can no longer proclaim to be against Citizens United, and yet have far more owned interest in shadow money in American Politics. If you hear a Democrat politician or poster on PF or anyone talk about Citizens United, just laugh in their face and mention 'Liz Cheney'.

Democrats are for shadow money and they're for representatives who don't care for their district.

Liz and Trump also deserve each other in today's political arena.

Cheney to launch anti-Trump organization after primary defeat - POLITICO

"Rep. Liz Cheney is wasting no time beginning the next phase of her bid to prevent Donald Trump’s return to office.

In coming weeks, Liz will be launching an organization to educate the American people about the ongoing threat to our Republic, and to mobilize a unified effort to oppose any Donald Trump campaign for president,” Cheney spokesperson Jeremy Adler told Playbook exclusively.
The new group, which will serve as Cheney’s (R-Wyo.) primary political vehicle as she considers whether to run for president in 2024, does not have an official name yet. An informed guess: The Great Task, which was the name of Cheney’s final ad of the campaign. The phrase is from the last sentence of the Gettysburg Address, and Cheney also referenced it in her concession speech from Jackson, Wyo., on Tuesday night.

Cheney’s campaign filed paperwork early Monday converting her campaign committee to a leadership PAC and renaming it “The Great Task.” The move will allow Cheney to continue raising money and potentially distribute it to like-minded candidates in the near term while she hashes out a longer-term strategy.

Speaking on NBC’s “Today” show on Wednesday, Cheney said a 2024 presidential run was “something I am thinking about” and promised a decision in the “coming months.”

“I believe that Donald Trump continues to pose a very grave threat and risk to our republic,” she said. “And I think that defeating him is going to require a broad and united front of Republicans, Democrats and independents, and that’s what I intend to be part of."

Poor Liz... well, actually, RICH Liz! In just a few years of government "service", she raked in many millions of dollars. A mysterious magic trick, indeed, for someone who has just become about as useful as a dirty diaper....
