Is it possible that he knows the courts could put him on trial both in civil and criminal courts and she's just a plant so she can get elected president and give him pardons? Despite being a hard corps conservative she's the darling of liberals now.

Maybe, but prolly not. The cheneys are hardcore establishment globalists. Civic nationalism threatens the global corporate authoritarian collective they think they have a stake in ruling. So Trump (unless he's the most brilliant double agent in history...) is their mortal enemy.

So was McCain and Romney, until the ran for President, then the left savaged both of them. What is Liz Cheney's political base these days?

I disagree on your view of T**** economics. His speeches and rhetoric in general were as you say but he did a lot of throwing the bone to his base while cutting steaks for the globalists.

McCain would have had a real shot if not for two things.

We were just coming off of 8 years of Republican Bush.

With all due respect, Cheney is a Neo Conservative so Democrats would never vote for her, and Republicans as a whole despise her.

How in the world are you figuring that she could win the presidency? Thinking that she could just doesn't make a lick of sense.

Correction: Trump-cult followers (of which, forum rules compel me to clarify, there are none in this forum... Just like nobody here has ever double-dipped at a nachos tasting in the supermarket) despise her. I don't believe all Republicans put Trump before their desire to remain a nation of laws. So the above seems to me like a hasty generalization.

As I've said before in a related thread, Trump followers maintain that they love his policies. Yet, they despise a Republican who voted for his policies 93% of the time. It just doesn't make sense...unless of course they love the man and not the policies.

Hmmm. Yeah, if one wants to pick nits you can point to a scant few Republicans that would vote for her, but are you trying to say enough that would propel her to the presidency?

You and I both know that answer, so I am not sure what could possibly be your point, other than to perhaps just be obstinate for the sake of being obstinate.

I have no idea what percentage of Republicans place their country before cult to Trump, so I wouldn't be able to answer that question. Nor do I know how many will come to their senses before 2024 or when he's hauled off to prison. If you do have access to a credible source for this "scant" number you mention, do share...

Personally, I prefer the Democrats' chances against Trump than against Cheney. As well as against just about any other possible Republican candidate.

Well, if you really wanted to hazard a guess, you could look at the recent results in the primary where Democrats made no bones about crossing over to vote for her and how badly she performed even with those crossover votes.

The problem is you have no desire to attempt to figure it out because deep down you actually know it would not provide anywhere near enough for her to win or even remain relevant during the nationwide primaries.

If you want her to run however, I say good luck to her. It is no skin off my nose. She is and will continue to be a non-factor. She should go for it, and you should think about donating to her campaign. Hope springs eternal. I even could not care less if she ran as an independent. Assuming that Trump runs and is the nominee, virtually nobody that votes for her would have ever voted for Trump. The tiny percentage of the vote she did take would be just as likely to take away the never-Trumper vote from whatever Dem candidate that is running as it would from an otherwise Trump vote.

At least this Dem fantasy is better than the Avenatti for President pipe dream. I guess that is progress. You folks are funny.

Yeah because, as they say, "as Wyoming goes, so goes the nation", right?

You could not have picked a state less representative of the country than Wyoming.

Did I not make it clear enough that I DON'T want her to run. My first choice would be Trump. But since he'll probably be behind bars, my second pick would be a trumpist fascist like DeSantis or similar...

If making a comparison to a general election, Wyoming would be out of the ordinary because of its outsized percentage of Republicans. When discussing a Republican primary however, their Republicans do not differ wildly from Republicans in other states.

**LOL Bless your little TDS stricken heart!...I think its cute how convinced you are that he will be in prison and not able to run because of it. Out of curiosity, at what point will you acknowledge that is not going to happen? Since your prison prediction now says he will not run due to being in prison, is 1 year long enough to determine whether your prison prediction was correct since that is about the time that a campaign would begin? Or does this just go an ad infinitum and you never have to admit you were wrong with your steadfast belief of his future in prison?

In your mind, does Secret Service also do the time with him in prison? In what prison do you think he will serve this time? Does he get special meals? Is he trading cigarettes for treats at the commissary? I assume your guess is that he joins the white supremacist gang? Do you envision him carrying a shank for protection?

LOL. You are hilarious. One would think you wouldat least hedge your bets and predict home confinement, but no, you are steadfast on "prison".

During his campaign in 2019, Trump said “The Democrats, which I’ve been saying all along, they don’t give a damn about crime. They don’t care about crime.... But I care about crime.” Those were his words but his actions (or rather, his choice of friends/associates) says something very different. Eight people working for him on his campaign were found guilty of criminal acts, and now Weisselberg has done the same.

I don't know that this is the case for Republicans who would place Trump before their country.

I'm not totally convinced. But I am convinced that, if he's not, it will make no difference because it would mean that Democrats were unwilling to uphold the rule of law and are therefore accomplices. So our main concern will then be, not who is President, but how to live in a fascist regime rather than in a democracy.

People incorrectly assumed that he meant he cared about STOPPING crime.
