What crimes are you referring to?

Pro tip: just saying "Trump committed crimes" isn't good enough. You're going to have to vote the crime, an actual crime and show your evidence.

Trump didn't plan, instigate, not cause the civil unrest on January 6.

It isn't like he offered to raise bail money for anyone who was arrested, Like Kamala Harris did.

If he knew it would be rejected by the Supreme Court, then he knew it wasn't a legal pathway.

The committee is a propaganda tool and they still haven't been able to produce any evidence. Sure hell no smoking gun.

Quote any one of them that testified under oath and had proof beyond a reasonable doubt that Trump "sent a mob to the capital".

Trump would never appear before this partisan investigation, it would give it legitimacy when there is none. Pelosi took care of that.

What the J6 Committee hasn’t done yet is tie the pieces of the conspiracy together and present a clean narrative. It’s essential for the public understanding of what transpired.

IMO it’s also essential in reforming the system.

McCarthy says Trump ‘bears responsibility’ for Capitol riot

I thought you people were supposed to be big on "personal responsibility" or is that fluid like "law and order" depending on if the criminal looks, loves and/or worships the way you do?

I agree. So far it isn’t a coherent story. And the lack of examining the security situation is also a serious lack.

The relentless, impressive cavalcade of Republican officeholders, Trump regime insiders, police, and other patriots testifying under oath has been revelatory, and the exposé continues.

Meanwhile, our criminal justice system is also resolute in the defense of democracy, law, and order under attack:

The Iowan who was one of the first rioters to enter the Capitol on January 6th, 2021, was found guilty on all seven criminal counts Friday.

    Screen Shot 2022-09-24 at 11.43.42 AM.png

Douglas Jensen had a folding knife in his pocket and was wearing a T-shirt expressing his adherence to the QAnon conspiracy theory when he joined the rioters who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. One of the videos that went viral after the siege captured Jensen at the front of the crowd that followed Capitol Police Officer Eugene Goodman up the stairs.

“The defendant wasn’t just leading the mob. He was weaponizing it,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Hava Mirell said during closing arguments for Jensen’s trial. “He knew he had the numbers, and he was willing to use them.”

More than 870 people have been charged with federal crimes for their conduct on Jan. 6. Approximately 400 of them have pleaded guilty.

    1. The Reps called for reform of the EVA before this committee was even selected, didn't need the committee for that. You can't even name another bill or even a possible one so you expectations must have been pretty low. And how do you know it will help strengthen or democracy rather than weaken it like passing more power to surveil and more easily investigate and prosecute political opposition based on their political beliefs, would that be evidence of strengthening our democracy?

    2. Who has confessed to a crime? Why is the DOJ relying on Congress to conduct a criminal investigation which is unconstitutional? Why hasn't the AG demanded they stop interfering with the role and duty of HIS department.

    3. Unconstitutional abuse of power. Congress does not have the authority to use it's full power to simple expose what they believe is bad behavior. I have cited that over and over along with the provisions against criminal investigations which this panel has openly stated they hoped to come up with criminal charges to forward to the DOJ. And what have we learned new? What critical information have we learned that we didn't know already? I think more important what we aren't learning because the Dems refuse to investigate it.

The pretense that The U.S. House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol is not legitimate has been rejected by the court.

The revealing sworn testimony of all the Republican officeholders, Trump regime insiders, police, and others cannot be nullified by those wishing to suppress the truth.

    BACKGROUND

Initially, Democrats and some Republicans wanted to create an independent commission, modeled after the one that investigated the 9/11 terrorist attacks. That proposed panel would have been made up of retired public officials, military leaders, and academics, rather than sitting members of Congress. The idea was to insulate the panel’s investigation as much as possible from the partisan fray.

The bipartisan commission would have included 10 members. House and Senate leaders for the Democratic Party would appoint the commission chair and four other members, while the Republican leaders would appoint the vice chair and four other members.

The day before the House voted on the legislation, Trump came out in opposition to it and called on Republicans to "not approve the Democrat[ic] trap of the Jan. 6 Commission," arguing that it amounted to "more partisan unfairness." House Republican leaders joined Trump in opposition. Despite this, the House passed the legislation, with universal support from Democrats and the backing of 35 breakaway Republicans.

But the Senate killed the commission idea after Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., came out against it, effectively ending any hope that the bill could get the 60 votes needed to overcome a filibuster....

The Constitution does not explicitly mention congressional investigations and oversight, but the courts have consistently upheld Congress’ right to undertake such activities, stemming from the text that says Congress possesses "all legislative powers." One of the Constitution’s framers, George Mason, said during its drafting that members of Congress "are not only legislators but they possess inquisitorial powers."

With the courts’ consistent backing, Congress has undertaken investigations over the past two centuries, from the Teapot Dome corruption scandal in the 1920s to the Watergate scandal that led to President Richard Nixon’s resignation in 1974...

On June 30, 2021, the House approved creation of the select committee to Investigate the Jan. 6 Attack on the United States Capitol. The resolution passed by a 222-190 margin... Under the resolution, "the Speaker shall appoint 13 Members to the Select Committee, 5 of whom shall be appointed after consultation with the minority leader." ...
    LEGAL RULINGS

On May 1, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia ruled that none of these concerns were enough to stop the committee's work. The ruling was made by Timothy J. Kelly, a Trump appointee...

"To ‘consult’ with Minority Leader McCarthy, all Speaker Pelosi had to do was ask for his ‘advice or opinion,’" Kelly wrote. "There is no dispute that she did. That she did not accept all his recommendations, and that Minority Leader McCarthy then withdrew all his recommendations, does not mean that Speaker Pelosi failed to consult with him."...

Kelly’s decision was in line with an earlier decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. In December 2021, a three-judge panel ruled against Trump’s attempts to block the National Archives from turning over presidential correspondence and documents to the Jan. 6 committee.

The appeals judges wrote that there are "few, if any, more imperative interests squarely within Congress’s wheelhouse than ensuring the safe and uninterrupted conduct of its constitutionally assigned business."

Further bolstering the House panel’s case is that a month later, the Supreme Court denied a motion by Trump to overturn the appeals court decision.

The collective result of these court decisions...

"the committee was properly authorized and that Congress has the power to investigate for valid legislative purposes."

I don't need a background I know exactly how it came about. Pelosi vetoed the members the Republicans choose and refused to seat them in violation of all previous protocols. It says she will seat the Republicans. She vetoed and selected the two ON HER OWN. And the committee was already stating that they would veto Republican evidence and testimony and areas of inquiry.

"According to the committee’s own enabling resolution, which was passed by the House of Representatives in June of 2021, the purpose of the committee is purely investigatory. None of the three stated purposes mention legislation a single time. Instead, the language of the enabling resolution states that the purpose of the committee is to “investigate and report” the facts surrounding the January 6 riot, “examine” evidence collected, and to “build upon” other investigations.

The three stated functions of the committee, per the resolution, are to “investigate the facts” surrounding the riot, “identify” lessons learned, and “issue a final report” on the committee’s investigation. Not only does the enabling resolution not provide any legislative goals for the committee, it explicitly bans the committee from marking up any legislation whatsoever."
    https://thefederalist.com/2021/09/2...-major-court-battle-over-executive-privilege/

As I have cited Congressional subpoenas must be for LEGISLATIVE purposes.

"....may wonder whether Congress had authority to issue that subpoena. Yesterday, the United States Supreme Court shed light on that question in its decision in Trump v. Mazars USA, LLP, Nos. 19-715 & 19-760.

The Court’s Decision After describing the history of how subpoena-based disputes between Congress and various presidents have been resolved, the Court discussed the basis for—and limits to—Congress’s subpoena power. Specifically, the Court affirmed that Congress’s subpoena power cannot be used for law enforcement purposes. In other words, Congress cannot use its subpoena authority to put someone on trial for a crime or wrongdoing, nor does Congress have the “power to expose for the sake of exposure.” Slip Op. at 12. Indeed, the Court confirmed that congressional investigations used solely to “punish” those investigated would be “indefensible.” Not only that, the Court reinforced the limitations to the subpoena power, including that the subpoena must serve a “valid legislative purpose,” and is proper only if it is “related to, and in furtherance of, a legitimate task of Congress.” Slip Op. at 11. In addition, the Court reaffirmed that those subject to a congressional subpoena have both constitutional and common law privileges—including attorney-client privilege—against the subpoena."

You merely keep repeating your same falsehoods.

I have provided you with the precise wording of the resolution establishing the U.S. House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol, under which the Speaker was empowered to appoint all members. As required, she consulted with the minority leader before doing so. Why do you pretend that she "vetoed" members when she alone appointed all members under the terms of the resolution?

Partisan objections were dismissed when the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia ruled that none of these concerns were enough to stop the committee's work. The ruling was made by Timothy J. Kelly, a Trump appointee.

The sworn testimony of all the Republican officeholders, Trump regime insiders, police, and others testifying under oath is quite damning, and is ongoing.

It will report the results of its investigation as required.

It is obvious that you don't like the results of the Committee's investigation.

i am old enough to remember the division in the 1960s over the Vietnam war by the same type people, as always the liberal left has more accurate information, Vietnam was a mistake and gradually the whole country realized this, today's left simple researched trumps long list of his business failures and put one and one together to figure out the man, i will concede mr trump is a masterful orator "BS artist" but no more, a minority of doubters will linger

    EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS? BAHAHAHAHAHA!

Dems are so frightened of Trump beating them in a fair election contest that they engaged in a full court blitz, even a Gestapo raid to try to keep him off the ballot. If they truly thought they could beat him, they would be working to make sure he was on the ballot.

'Trump commands attention, but that attention draw focus to himself.
DeSantis commands attention, but he draws focus to an issue.'

Trump never laid a glove the the Deep State. He isn't the solution to our most vexing issue, returning the rogue Federal Agencies to the Rule of Law.

Desantis, on the other hand, plays these guys like a fiddle. He is far smarter than most of them, though he does try to conceal his tremendous IQ to further his "every man" appeal. 'He can force the news media to cover anything he chooses, even when they would rather do just about anything else. And DeSantis knows how to frame the issue in the most powerful and Republican-friendly way possible.'

DeSantis is the best politician in this cycle — and perhaps the best we have seen since Reagan. 'Obama was much cooler as a person. He cut a figure that recalls JFK, but he was pretty awful at driving a policy agenda. Ron DeSantis knows how to get his way and look good doing it.'

HOW INCREDIBLE OF A GOVERNOR HAS DESANTIS BEEN? 'Both people and capital are fleeing other states to settle in Florida. No state has experienced more in-migration than Florida.' Not even Texas can compete. And as tellingly Florida has seen the largest infusion of adjusted gross income–dollars–in the country. Four times more has come to Florida than the second highest state, Texas. That is just stunning.

That was the lay of the land in CA when Ron I took over the WH.

'Florida has seen almost four times as much adjusted gross income moving to Florida as has moved into Texas. What are the states that are hemorrhaging wealth? California, Illinois, New York, New Jersey—you know the list.'

Great Job J6! You exceeded our expectations!

No, Republicans abandoning the independent, bipartisan Commission after Trump told them to made the January 6 congressional committee necessary, but that did not establish its legitimacy. That was done by the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

In a lawsuit, the Republican National Committee argued that there were several problems with the select committee’s formation.

On May 1, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia ruled that none of these concerns were enough to stop the committee's work.
The ruling was made by Timothy J. Kelly, a Trump appointee.
That ruling stands, and has not been appealed.

The Loser's persistence in crapping on democracy by clinging to his fake claim of a stolen "Landslide!," even after his goons failed to prevent certification by attacking Congress, demands that all aspects of his schemes to thwart the will of the People in the 2020 election be exposed. Many courageous Republican officeholders and Trump regime insiders have furthered that patriotic imperative by their sworn testimony.
