There's 2 pipelines running parallel in Nordstream 1. Try to keep up, thanks.

Guess they got them from the same shitty batch of non conforming pipe huh? Completely shocking that orcish technology catastrophically failed in normal use. Also: wednesmydudes.jpg

    Seems like sabotage, yes.

I think a lot of parties wanted this to happen and people probably overestimate the capabilities needed. Anybody who hates Russia, loves Ukraine, or doesn't want Russian gas to go to Germany for whatever reason would want this to happen. Russia is also possible, for the purpose of having people believe what you believe, but I wouldn't bet on it. The US is possible, to give Russia fewer options to keep going strong against Ukraine, but your conclusion seems premature. You're just assuming so you can believe what you want.

I said it because Washington was fearful that Russia might do it a few years back, when they were roaming about the straits. So I guess everything isn't satellites.

Several years ago which is pre things like starlink being so ubiquitous, making the bering cable more of a convenience than a necessity.
Anything we actually need can be easily re-routed.
But hey, touch the stove if you like.

There were major protests going on in Germany to open the pipelines and to better relations with Russia and there was a possibility the government might buckle or fall. So in order to stop the protests to open the pipelines, they had to be destroyed and the hell with the German people.

There were American ships nearby, but the Ukraine mafia might also have been involved since Kolomoisky lives in Israel and he does hire them to do his dirty work. We do know that they have deep sea divers specializing in sabotage, because of the incidents with Iran.

It could no longer be considered "critical" or "dependable" when your enemy is weaponizing it. Cut the cord and find another way.

What really don’t like in Russians is their luck of sense of humor. What I showed WAS A JOKE and not any real theory.

In America we have a presumption of innocence: it means that any defendant in a criminal trial is assumed to be innocent until they have been proven guilty.
We have no proof who damaged the pipeline, it can be Israelis, Russians, Americas or Tooth Fairy, lets wait what investigations will find.

I think the ability to sabotage underwater pipelines narrows the suspect list to the handful of nations that have first class submarines. The poster I was replying to was more than willing for the US to take the credit. I find it hard to believe that the Russians would cause that kind of damage to an asset in which they are a majority shareholder.

So we're at war with Russia, or should be?

I mean or anyone that can rent a robust enough deep sea submersible and rig a couple of shaped charges.
Discovery channel sends documentaries on the ocean floor all the time, I've seen one with Will Smith in it ffs.

OK add the Discovery Channel to the list of suspects.

Better put Disney on there too. This is probably to distract from how ****ing terrible SheHulk's writing is.

For all we know it was that little swedish girl now turned eco terrorist.
As I recall her movement is well gassed up (pun intended) and she has sea experience and a boat, and those submersibles are basically a diving bell you drop down on the target. So where was her sailing vessel that week? Eh?

Putin loves to have people wringing their hands thinking that he just might do it. Look at how much that unfounded fear has allowed him to get away with so far!

So the Discovery channel set off a charge that registered 2.3 on the Richter scale. Cool. Maybe Will Smith pushed the button?

Hello, is this Hertz rental? I need a submersible to start WW3, you got any?

Who says first class submarines would be required? What about just any submarine? Not saying it's Sweden, but they're not a superpower and yet they have/had submarines that could threaten American aircraft carriers due to their stealth. I know hitting an aircraft carrier and hitting an underwater pipe aren't the same, but would want to see an expert in submarines or underwater demolition weigh in on what would really be required. And they might say they would need to see the results of an investigation anyway.

Jeannette, I admire your sense of humor! Almost 8 months you are telling us how Russia is going to win t̶h̶e̶ w̶a̶r̶/special military operation and each time you are making me laugh,
And you didn’t forget – Russia has a long tradition of killing its own people, destroying it own infrastructure to blame opponents:

Well I'm not a sub expert so yeah, I would like to read some expert weigh in, but until then I doubt there are more than a dozen nations that could pull this off.

A suggestion I heard was dropping programmed mines near the pipelines, perhaps well in advance. The pipelines are made of thin material and explosions are more powerful underwater, so it wouldn't take much precision. They could have been set to be triggered by the sound of a particular ship or by a radio signal, and could have been dropped even by a non-military ship.
