Again: Ukraine is an independent nation, the prior president of the Russian Federation has underwritten that agreement amongst other nations.
Its a done deal, Ukraine is not Russia.
As for the rest: I have no idea what you're talking about and frankly given the status of your other claims as demonstrably false don't care to further bandy words with you.

The Ukrainians are free to bargain with us and receive the benefits of that bargain. Likewise, they are free to tell you to **** off, as they have been.
You driving those areas down in population by starting this war and occupying those areas first with the wagner group and later with regular soldiers, and only allowing those to remain who submit to having Russian IDs, then taking the remainers to go "vote" at gun point and telling them how they should vote, is not the Ukrainians bargaining with you.

The troll farmers do that frequently. When you prove them wrong they either pretend not to understand or they change the subject to play whataboutism.

They never engage in honest dialog.

Many Russkis have felt betrayed when Germany re-unified into one. They felt their efforts in ww2 were all for nothing in sacrificing 30 mln dead.

The jubilant, dancing on the Berlin Wall Germans was rather humiliating for some Russkis.

On a war in which the home team is involved mate ?.. that is monsterously naive friend .. demonstrably uninformed on some rather basic material. US media - like most other media - is famous for rooting for the home team during times of war .. Propaganda Central.

How come you don't know this -- claiming to be in the foreign service and all ? Highly unusual someone in such a position being so unaware of the basics.

Were you not around during the Iraq war at all ? .. the "Rush to War" .. doesn't ring a bell ?

If Putin sets it up for that they like anyone would step in an take an opportunity handed to them by Putin as an unintended consequence.Still you have no proof that the US did anything.

Yes since Japan was not going to surrender and the US potentially saved a million US casualties and maybe even more Japanese including civilian Japanese lives. Russia is causing death and destruction so obviously on purpose so not honorable.

Yeah so what? I know this rhetoric from you. I am saying that when the line on the map changed from the west to the east to include these regions the people on that land were and are still Russian. If they agreed to be a part of Ukieville, why do they vote now (without guns to their heads) to not be part of the Ukieville target practice ensemble?

I would have though that's obvious. Doing it anywhere inside Russian territory, especially on land points the finger of blame directly at Russia and repairs are relatively quick/easy. Russia would be left having to either except blame or argue it was saboteurs. In the latter case it's look's incompetent for failing to protect the pipeline inside it's own territory.

As I said above, anywhere on land the pipeline could be repaired fairly promptly which means Russia would have no excuse not to restore gas flows asap and the disruption in Europe would be minimal. (Unless it refused to do so.) Underwater and outside their territory? Anyone can be blamed and repairs are harder/take longer.

For the rest? Germany and rest of Europe are place already facing rises in the cost of energy and economic pain. This is already leading to public protests/demonstrations. As I said in my previous post this adds to the pressure and punishes Germany (and the rest of Europe) for supporting Ukraine while providing plausible deniability to Russia. Just turning off the gas automatically ID's Russia as the one responsible. This way they can deny any blame and get the same result they would have if they did turn it off. (It also sends a handy little 'message' to Europe i.e. what if similar 'accidents' were to happen to the your other pipelines!

The downside for Russia of curse is that it loses sales but everyone in Europe is is already looking for alternate sources of gas and Russia knows it will never get them back - at least while Putin's still in charge. From his perspective whats to lose?

My understanding is solid. I declared your example as useless and serves only your fantasy which is nothing more than defending that Putin guy.

Hey it is obvious that Russian did the deed of violently sabotaging the pipeline and did it instead of just turning off the valves because that way they can try to blame the west. That is the standard operating procedure of that character.

US media are not error free, but they work in good faith and strive for fairness. No one has been harder on the media over Iraq than the media themselves.

Not when it comes to war sunshine ... Propaganda central .. and apologizing after the fact .. then doing it again in the next war ... is what they do. You my friend having not a clue - should be embarassed.

When the war is in progress .. Journalists don't dare speak go against the Propaganda narrative of the day.. thats how you lose your job.

You seem to think we have fair and free press in this nation... naivity like a bumble bee.
