Ron DeSantis privately calls Trump a ‘moron’ and vents about him running for president

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has privately vented to staffers that Donald Trump, a likely contender for the Republican presidential ticket in 2024, is a “moron” and has no business running for the Oval Office for a second time.
The revelations about the inside murmurings from the Republican governor arrive from a deeply reported Vanity Fair profile, which tracks the firebrand Florida politician’s rise from a controversial figure in the GOP to a likely challenger in the 2024 presidential election.
Though the governor has been mum publicly about any animus he holds towards the former president, behind closed doors it’s apparently a different story.

DeSantis seems to have more going for him than I gave him credit for.
Calling Trump a "moron" is a good start.
^Even though such a statement is equivalent to "The Sun Rises in the East'...
Hopefully, DeSantis is serious about a Primary challenge.
Trump does not deserve to be unopposed in the Primary.

I suspect most politicians probably say something similar. It's pretty obvious Trump is a moron, but he's popular enough with the Republican crowd that you can't say those things in public.

 

Trump's talent is appealing to the bottom end.

Republicans know they need the knuckle-dragger vote so in public they schmooze and kiss the Orange butt.

 

DeSantis is probably saying this because he doesn’t want to run against Trump. He wants an easy ride to the top of the ticket.

 

I read this and thought “kettle and pot”. De Santis is not the moron that Trump is but that still leaves a lot of room for significant amounts of idiocy

 

Seems to me DeSantis is simply reading from a page in the Trump playbook. There was an “insider “account, I believe it was last week, detailing Trump calling DeSantis a moron among other things.

Morons being morons. A primary with those two would a reality tv exercise in stupid.

I hadn't thought about that aspect, but the entertainment value alone would be astronomical!
I prefer boring stuff like debate about policies, but as long as both would lose, it would be fun to watch.

Well, the two of them aren't going to debate the invasion at the border, gas prices, crime, inflation, the Afghanistan disaster, empty shelves, identity politics, CRT, men in women's sports, drag queens in kindergarten, and all that stuff because on those things they agree.
