I'm thinking his work place has backup electricity... however , you are most likely right about a few days as I doubt the cell towers have backup and may, in fact, be down.

FB said they have no generator at the gas station.
They seem to be making communications a high priority.
At this morning's press conference they said 100 cell towers were being put up.

Suspense... reminds me of when the astronauts were out of contact as they went around the moon.

We have at least 10 people headed down to the Tampa St. Pete area, where we have locations. Generators, fuel and supplies to help feed the workers who are cleaning up and reconstructing.

I'm sure I'll get updates once they arrive.

From Edith's friend Sheryl near Venice, Fla

Update: House is intact. Back yard damage and most of the shed attached to the house is gone. Some roof damage but consider ourselves lucky. We have power, water and air. The park has a lot of devastation.
Phones and texts not going thru as on emergency calls only. Will try to update you when I can. Thank you for your continued prayers.

A bit inland from ground 0. I believe he said he’s 35 miles inland. They do not appear to have gotten any surge. Surge is the worst part of hurricane damage.

    https://www.axios.com/2022/09/28/hurricane-ian-storm-surge-southwest-florida

So, he’s dealing with wind damage, for sure, but no water damage.

He could be dealing with flooding. I think in some of his posts he talked about flooding in his area.
I did read an article that said Ian took water out of the Peace River so....I think that is the river he lived near. Maybe he escaped the flooding.

You are correct. I see the Peace river is at record highs. Sigh.
FB is fine, though! He strikes me as incredibly resilient and resourceful.

Dealing with the aftermath of a storm is mind numbing and overwhelming. Takes a lot resilience.

I'm about a mile away from the river so I'm safe from River flooding but a couple of my elderly friends live right on the river with their house being built on stilts and they decided to stay.

Their house did not flood but it was shaking during the storm and they finally got out today by boat and are staying in one of my landlord spare bedrooms.

They had the posse down there today. A bunch of game wardens and cops of every stripe from as far away as Tampa with a swamp buggies and air boats galore. I told them about my friends and that I had not been able to contact them by phone but they got out today about 5:00 p.m. and are fine now.

You're not kidding.... Driving around town today I was almost reduced to tears several times.

It's a devastating tragedy that will leave a deep nasty scar but we will survive.

Thank you for that Todd. She's still in the hospital and is okay. She was on floor number 7 and told me the building was shaking. She was very close to landfall. I'm exactly 57 miles Northeast of that hospital. DeSoto county.

Unfortunately we do not have backup generators at work. Text and phone calls have been spotty all day and I had no internet since my last post about maybe 1 am, I believe I just got it back late this afternoon .

I heard last night they had a hundred seller internet towers that were temporary and ready to be deployed

Just don't put him in charge of the boiled peanuts.
Good to hear the hurricane they named after me didn't hurt you or flatten your home.

    Lol.

More luck of the draw than anything else. I don't know how many homes are destroyed but I personally seen several and I have not really drove around town much at all.

It turns out that the store does have a large backup generator as big as my minivan.... But it's a hundred or so miles away.

The owner told me something about it.... Something to do with the state law and it was moved for some reason or other.... And the oil company was supposed to have it here within 2 hours.

    4:50 a.m. here

About 20 minutes ago a vehicle pulled in behind mine I was wondering who the hell it was because I could tell from the headlights it was not the police..... It was just the boss man coming to check on the place like he does every morning about that time.

Other than that I have seen very little traffic tonight. Most of what I have seen is cops and highway patrol.

How were the beasts during the storm?
The dogs must have been freaked out.
The squirrel is one lucky guy, his compatriots out in the wild must have had a really tough time.
