Corrected me? It’s clear you have no understanding to what you quoted. The discussion had nothing to do with insurance, or rebuilding, or whatever you think it meant.

We aren’t worried about insurance costs.

He may not. I just got to work for the long night ahead. We are not open but I'm just sitting here in my van keeping an eye on the place making sure nobody loots. There are national guard walking around with rifles right now. The police are aware that I will be up here all night.

I made it home this morning about 10:00 a.m. to find out if I was homeless or not. Fortunately the landlord's mobile home and mine right next to his sustained only minor damage. Some skirting blue off and a couple of shingles. On either side of us carports and Florida rooms were blown away.

The people on the corner near me were not so lucky. They are homeless their trailer was a total loss.

The town is devastated but we have been through this before and will survive this time. This too, shall pass. even though it will leave a nasty scar

The first picture is the trailer I just told you about that is totaled. The second picture is what used to be my landlord's shed.

Here is what a member on another forum is saying about this Hurricane:

Not only will voting in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina in the upcoming election be interruped by the hurricane, now we see that...

    https://www.newstarget.com/2022-09-...-fertilizer-production-for-north-america.html

Remember that several fertilizer plants have already been taken out by fires, etc. Not only has our supply of fertilizer be reduced so much that farmers cannot grow enough crops to feed us, but now we have to contend with yet ANOTHER destruction of fertilizer production. Don't you remember reading several news articles about this?
Mmmmm... THEY ARE TAKING OUT OUR FOOD SUPPLY.
I am now more convinced than ever that the hurricane was created using HAARP or some other weather control apparatus.

Hurricanes are older than humans. Conspiracy theories are in this basement.

Or the hurricane simply formed naturally off the coast of Africa like hurricanes have been doing since the beginning of mankind keeping record of such things.

That's a bridge too far for me and I hope that our government would never do something like that.

But then again I reserve the right to remain skeptical.

If you have any evidence go ahead and post it up

I'm glad I've got my motorcycle in the minivan behind me. My van used to be a medical taxi and it's got the drop-down ramp from the back door and the middle of the floorboard frame has been cut and lowered or it would never fit inside of a regular minivan. And I've got 7 gallons of gas for the bike.

Gas vehicles have the advantage right now assuming that you stocked up on some of it first....

With almost the entire county out of power you would be hard pressed to charge a car right now.

We've got at least a thousand gallons of gas in our tanks that is reserved for employees and first responders, but until the power comes on or a generator is hooked to it we cannot pump any of that gas.

I started getting sick the day before this hurricane..... Fever and body aches and I thought oh great.... In addition to the stress of this whole situation now this.

I'm feeling better though still not 100% and I have not slept 6 hours and probably the last 3 days and all of that was fitful at best.

I'll probably take my seat all the way back and doze in the van tonight.

Not for me. We vacationed in Colorado mountains....and I discovered I had fear of heights. Spent most of the time on the floor board in the car begging my husband to focus on the road and not the scenery.. Altitude sickness too. I was no fun. Colorado Springs was fabulous though!

A fairly cool night ( probably the coolest in 3 months easily) not a cloud in the sky and the stars are all shining brightly.

What a difference 24 hour makes

I'm very glad of it because I don't have power at my house but I had windows open all day.

Who knows how long I'll be without power. Areas around here or without power 2 to 3 weeks after Charlie. But that was almost 20 years ago so let's hope that they have made some improvements.

I was only without power for 2 days after Irma but I lived closer to the center of town and the hospital at that time and that's the area of town that comes on first.

I've got a propane camp stove so I can cook. And I've got a cooler with cold beer and ice right now! And my boss knows it and doesn't really care.

This would be the exception not the rule.... I don't drink it work other than it very exceptional circumstances lol

    We have a curfew in place from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

I did not leave my house to come to work until 9:45 but no one stopped me.

The police know I'll be here all night and if that's not good enough they can see my work shirt with my name and the fact that I have the store keys in my pocket.

I'm glad they do have a curfew though to keep the scumbags from walking around trying to steal stuff.

That could be very hazardous to your health around here right now. This town is full of very well-armed rednecks.

Isn’t it lovely how right wingers now routinely turn even natural catastrophes into excuses to vent their partisan prejudices?
In the old days, we used to come together in such times and help each other.

I'm in a brick high rise in the city waiting for the remnants to come visit us tomorrow. Our garage may be flooded but that's probably about it, although last year Ida knocked our elevators out. Amazing how we live so differently yet think much alike. Good luck through the rest of this.

Seems to me that Most of the EU doesn’t have to deal with the events we have here in the US.

This town is full of people coming together to help each other right now. Leave it to you to try to make it a partisan issue. I knew when I saw your quote notification it would be nothing but your usual vitriol. Go bug off

Are there birds flying and can you see the immense cloud wall all around you, like you're in a huge stadium? It would seem almost worth it to endure the storm just to experience something so strange. (almost but not quite) I read somewhere that the eye of a hurricane is like something you would expect on Jupiter rather than Earth.

Europe is as far north as Labrador, there's no tropical warm water heat engine up that far.

Europe gets Noreasters, less regular but almost worse. There was one that nearly flooded out the Netherlands back in the 50s and was the cause of all the Seagates that they have there now.

I've been told they're totally waterproofed. They still can't run UNDER water but they're ready once the water subsides

That flood killed about 60 people here in East Anglia, Mostly in Essex.
We are the opposite side of the North Sea from the Dutch and are vulnerable to the same tidal surges. We had another severe tidal surge 3 or 4 years ago that caused flooding in a few coastal towns but didn't kill anyone AFAICR.

And everyone else in Naples returns your good wishes. Who says conservatives are all vindictive dicks?

I hear our next President is planning on sending the 7th fleet into the South China Sea next Hurricane season to make the Chinese turn off their Hurricane Gun and cease all this AGW plotting
