I'm just curious because I noticed there's a core group of us insomniacs around here. I work from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and even on my weekend off my schedule really doesn't change. So I'm just wondering what the rest of you who are up now at what is 3:46 a.m. here in Florida are awake for? I know there's a lot of reasons why people can't sleep I'm just curious what your story is?
Mostly thoughts about work ...and of course When you get up at night to pee, it's hard to fall asleep afterwards...
Nocturnalism. If I have to work early, I can (usually) force myself to sleep during my preferred active hours. But it always requires effort no matter how hard I try to make it a pattern. So sometimes I give in and enjoy not forcing it.
What keeps you up all night ? ~ Enlarged prostate requires a pee pass a few times a night. Very common in men over 60 .
Not sure who was up that time tonight, but maybe its not about "can't sleep". For example you "can't sleep" because you work nights. I work whenever I need to work and sometimes that is all night. Today I will start at 2PM, and will work until 10PM, and since I only need to monitor activities done by others, it will be boring and I'll probably be posting. So, I work today and won't have to work on Monday. Fortunately the 2PM starting time gives me the opportunity to squeeze in a round of golf, which is what I am getting ready for now.
If I’m on PF late nights or early mornings it’s because I’m up working. Several months of the year require maternity checks every 2-4 hours so sometimes I stay up or sleep a while and get up to check. I usually end up seeing what ya’ll are up to….and sometimes respond. Tonight I planted rye until 10:00 pm, then came in and ate supper and washed some dishes and now will go to bed until time to check the expectant mothers at 2:00 am. Goodnight—temporarily! LOL
Live on the other side of the planet PS there are more Aussies and Kiwis and Brits than you realise on here
When I had friends in the military deployed to Afghanistan I started using the world clock feature on my iPhone to keep track of their time so as to not wake them up in the middle of the night. With a brother in Hawaii it helps with that as well. If you are an android guy I’m sure they have some similar feature. Mine looks like this and you can add or remove whatever cities you want.
I don't like to sleep. Would rather stay up and do anything. I only go to bed because I know I have to. Unfortunately, all of my kids feel the same way. I suppose working out harder lately has made going to sleep seem like less of a chore. Once I do go to bed, I fall asleep easily, go back to sleep easily, and sleep heavily, even before I was working out more.
A bladder with it's own time schedule, and a cat who wakes me up if my blood sugar goes low. Between the two, I'm happy if I get 2 hours of sleep at a time. In between, I'll occasionally read for a few minutes.
I'm basically a worrier, but I retired and was sleeping great. I got restless, went back to work, and now I can't sleep again because I'm worried all the time.
