A two political party system does not take away from the separation of independent powers, but, as you imply, the framers abhorred political parties, just accepted them as inevitable.

Coup? LOLOL... a disorganized, unarmed bunch of proteters occupying ONE BUILDING for only a few hours is a "coup"? LOLOL
A "coup" would take thousands of well armed, well trained folks from coast to coast taking over communications centers, transportation hubs, police facilities, military bases, and and a complete new set of folks standing by to take over key posts like President, CIA, DOJ, FBI, and so much more. Coup? LOLOL... a disorganized, unarmed bunch of proteters occupying ONE BUILDING for only a few hours is a "coup"? LOLOL

It can also lead to chaos as everything has to be redone or at least revalidated. In the midst of a crisis that can be catastrophic.

Read again: I said FAILED coup. What you are describing would be a SUCCESSFUL coup. Trump is such an incompetent idiot that he can't even organize a proper coup.

And yet there is no evidence that your so called coup was much more than minimally organized by anyone including Trump.

No parliamentary system has avoided deadly violence. Allowing the Parliament to remove the Head of State is what is called no separation of dependent powers.

Not anywhere close to the well-oiled Democrat effort.

Maybe I missed it, but I don't see Canada as an exception. They are a regular parliamentary system through and through with the House picking the prime minister and disposing the prime minister at will Muddied up a little with the Governor General and King/Queen. The prime minister in effect appoints the Senate. The prime minister, a member of parliament, in effect appoints the supreme court judges. What exceptions are you referring to?

NO system has ever avoided deadly violence. As I said, it's not about deadly violence.

I see no reason why. The Parliament selects the Head of State, but the executive branch is still the executive branch.

It wasn't too "well-oiled", but it DID stop him.

IMO it was extremely well oiled, planned, and executed. Democrats showed much skill and competence in getting rid of a president.

There was obviously no ATTEMPT at a coup with such a meager set of resources, planning, and everything else. Your emotional bias against Trump warps your reason.

I never called it a coup. Someone else did. I saw it a minor protest. I was at Moratorium Day in 1971 when a MILLION protesters showed up. Jan 6 shrinks to insignificance.

Canada has an independent judiciary, provinces more independent than U.S. states and a constitution with a Charter of Rights and Freedoms, a copy of our Bill of Rights.
Remember, I was pointing out the independent provinces in Canada and the operation of their constitution and Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

The written, federal constitution makes the Canada different than many countries with a parliamentary form of government.

The thing people are missing is Trump's attempt to steal the election by undermining the Electoral College. The attack on the Capitol was disgusting, not an insurrection.

It should have been easier to get rid of a President who is a proven criminal.

I thought you wanted the popular vote to decide the executive? Why switch from electors appointing the executive to MPs appointing the executive?

Which is exactly what happens in a parliamentary system.

Absurd question. Electors don't choose anything.

I would prefer it but it removes one layer of checks and balances so I don't expect it to happen.

Sorry about that supposed to be for the person you were responding to. There isn't a shred of evidence connecting Trump to the riot. But the left continues to conflate the different elements within the events of January 6,,,

To the best of my knowledge this is not correct. AFAIK the prime minister pretty much directly appoints lower provincial judges. A standing group puts together a short list for supreme court justices and the prime minister tells the governor general which ones to appoint and that is that. If the executive branch unilaterally appoints judges without recourse that is a parliamentary system without separation of powers.
Canada does not have a real constitution. They have a collection of various passed laws that they call a Constitution. Granted it kinda resembles a constitution and includes things akin to our Bill of Rights.
