Putin knows who Biden's faux pets are, that's why he's holding onto the criminal and he knows Biden won't do anything about it because in reality, Biden doesn't care about Brett Griner or whatever his name is.

 

We're holding a black market arms dealer called Viktor Bout that Putin wants released. It's been plausibly argued Griner was arrested in the hopes of working a trade. I think the Russians overestimated Griner's celebrity and the extent to which anyone gives a rip about her.

 

Yea maybe Russia actually wants to release her earlier, but he negotiates to keep her there until 2 days before the election.

 

You've got it backwards, Biden immediately offered to release "The Merchant of Death" in exchange for Griner's release but Russia didn't even respond to the offer.

 

My bad. In that case, I stand by my original assessment: this is tit for tat political gamesmanship, and an opportunity to embarrass President Braindead. Putin is using Giner to spaink him for throwing billions at Ukraine.

The offer confirms my nic for POTUS - Bout is a cockroach who's supplied weapons to those who have Americans in the crosshairs. He deserves to stay where he is. We sentenced him to 25 years; Griner only got 9. Good trade, in my opinion.

Brittney Griner, the WNBA star who was held for months in Russian prisons on drug charges, was released Thursday in a one-for-one prisoner swap for international arms dealer Viktor Bout, according to a U.S. official. The one-for-one exchange agreement negotiated with Moscow in recent weeks was given final approval by President Biden within just the last week, according to sources familiar with the deal. The swap, first reported by CBS News, took place on Thursday in the United Arab Emirates.

Five former U.S. officials told CBS News the agreement had been reached as of last Thursday.

A White House official said President Biden was in the Oval Office Thursday morning on the phone, speaking with Griner and her wife, and that Vice President Kamala Harris was also in the room. Per standard procedure for freed U.S. prisoners, Griner was expected to quickly undergo a medical evaluation.


Biden is expected to make a statement shortly.

Glad she is coming home but it would have been nice if the US Marine (Paul Whelan) was included.
