Not the most accessible drug, though, even illegally, unless you grow & process it yourself, no?

that was the way Marijuana started too, now look at it, first is getting rid of the fake news about shrooms - already saw one post about how addictive it was... which anyone that has done them knows that is not true

If you live in the Gulf States of the southeast or the Pacific Northwest you are in luck.

There are at least 30 psychoactive specimens in the genus of pscilocybe. The Pacific Northwest is blessed to have a plethora of species and the most potent one known to science currently.

Here in the southeastern United States there are several species with pscilocybe cubensis being the most commonly sought after one. The famous golden tops or purple ringers as they are known.... Also the most commonly cultivated one as it is the easiest to cultivate and most commonly available with online grow kits.

A relatively large mushroom with a pretty good psilocybin content. Three or four dry grams is considered a full psychedelic dose with seven dry grams being a very heavy dose.

Though it is illegal to cultivate them in many states, you can commonly find grow kits online though they say the spores are for microscopic research purposes only. ( And those States it would be very much illegal to germinate and cultivate those spores into the mushrooms)

If you wish to grow your own in a legal state, a whole process takes about 6 weeks and is not terribly difficult.

I like to call them dirty nipples or copper tops... If you are hunting those under a good amount of moonlight they really stand out without the aid of a flashlight.

Only someone who has clearly never done them would succumb to the hysterical and hyperbolic Hysteria that mushrooms are somehow addictive.

Yeah, hopefully it will evolve. Sounds like Colorado will rise to a top vacation destination, for a lot of Americans. I think might prefer some of the mescaline, to start.

But this is not all assured. These are still federal controlled substances, at present, so Colorado can only do this, if national law enforcement (the D.E.A.) looks the other way. Under Biden, that may be the case; but I'm much more doubtful of that, under a President DeSantis.

If there is any drug that should ever be made perfectly legal it should be mushrooms.

A good long mushroom trip really makes you question the world around you and your place in it and makes you really evaluate your values and your morals.

If more people ate a good dose of mushrooms at least once the world would be a much better place.

I hereby move that all potential presidential candidates should have done a good dose of shrooms at least once!

That is hard to say. Trump didn't go after marijuana did he?

I've always wanted to do mescaline but never had peyote buttons. There are also other cacti that contain mescaline but none of them and near the concentration of the famous peyote.

San Pedro cacti comes to mind. I tried to do a dose of that way back in the day but you have to eat like a foot of this columnar cactus. Imagine trying to eat a foot of a columnar cactus...

Needless to say I was only disappointed.

It is in many plants on all continents and is easily processed with household chemicals. One of the plants containing the highest levels of DMT is the Australian national plant - the wattle.

Thanks for all the info. I actually got a grow kit, a long time ago, and wondered if it would be hard, now, to find anyone still selling the spores.

But in the post you answered, I was responding to Steady Pie's comment, about DMT, not psilocybin. I do realize there are many plants that produce at least modest amounts of it, if you cultivate & process it, yourself. For example, I know that one can make an Ayahuasca analog, from Syrian Rue, and Canary Reed Grass. Ayahuasca is DMT, combined with another drug-- harmine or harmaline, I believe-- which greatly prolongs the experience. It was discovered by primitive tribes, in the Amazon, amidst the natural pharmacy of thousands of drug bearing plants, of all types, including deadly ones. Yet somehow, they managed to put the right two plants together. They'll tell you, if you ask how they found that perfect pairing, that the plants told them.

The article says that peyote, is specifically exempted from the legalizing of mescaline. I tried mesc once, but not a lot. It was fun; not transformative, at that dose, but just put me in a good, happy mood (and there was a fair amount of laughter, involved). Even though I think that is a general characteristic of mescaline, different people can react differently (as I'm sure you know), to any given drug.

which is a violation of the 1st, we should all be free to practice any religion we want in the privacy of our own homes, even the Peyote Religion

Of course, but you are being naive, to think that just because something is right, the government is going to make it happen. The government is people, who have their own opinions, and their own agendas, based in large part upon being in the government. Further, institutional mentalities develop, which sustain those old ways of thinking, into the future.

The government wants productivity, and conformity, of its citizens. Mushrooms promote neither of those two, but in fact run counter to them. It is one reason that Nixon had to squash LSD: it was making too many kids not want to go fight in Vietnam. In truth, though, LSD use was out of control, among some of the younger generation. The thing is, you can't open up all of the drugs that our civilization has created, to a population that has insufficient understanding, maturity/responsibility, and cultural context, to use these things. The substances have been overly demonized, so that those most willing to use them, are those least likely to believe anything that officials say about them, even if it is true. So a gradual introduction, is definitely the way we need to go.

I wish that some state would approve coca leaves (not cocaine). That would go right along with government approved, productivity-enhancing coffee & caffeine. The problem, I'd guess-- besides some turning the leaves into cocaine-- would be that this is perhaps not something that would grow well in the states, and we might be reluctant to import it from South & Central America.

I agree, but they should follow the constitution

heck, the DEA doesn't even follow their own rules, as Marijuana has a medical purpose, thus can not be a scheduled one drug

    https://www.dea.gov/drug-information/drug-scheduling

    Schedule I

Schedule I drugs, substances, or chemicals are defined as drugs with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse. Some examples of Schedule I drugs are: heroin, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), marijuana (cannabis), 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (ecstasy), methaqualone, and peyote.

Yeah, I know, "Scheduling" drugs that the SCOTUS had previously ruled the government had no right to outlaw, was Nixon's end run, around the law. But that's kind of a moot point, now. As a society, we are, where we are.

Also, in this far more interconnected world, of rapid intercontinental transit, there must be some international understandings, around drugs.

Then they wrote a very bad law.
Mescaline is to peyote what psilocybin is to any psilocybin mushroom.

The mescaline itself is what is the controlled substance. That particular species of cactus is loaded with mescaline.

You can't really say that mescaline is permitted if you outlaw a species of cactus that mainly produces it.

I suspect it is much like the opium poppy.... If these things were easy to grow here in the US there would be a huge market.

    But from my
limited amount of knowledge and research it seems that it would not be easy to do.

If it was easy to grow cocoa Bush and opium poppy every damn Joe and his brother would have them as common landscaping.

That does make sense doesn't it?

Also very interesting analysis on the government classification and handling of psychedelic drugs

I truly is a slap on our face to sit here and tell us that things like mushrooms are scheduled one,... But that's the b******* the government is selling

And now they want you to sit here and believe everything they tell you. People can call me a conspiracy theorist all they want but there's a reason I don't just believe everything the government tells me

I pointed out what you did here many years ago that it was insane that mushrooms were considered schedule one.

I knew this when I was 20 years old and had eaten my first good dose

The funny thing is is that all of these substances are damn near endogenous to the human brain..

They're kind of like keys that fit into the receptors which are the naturally occurring keyholes in our brain.

No I haven't double checked this but I believe I remember hearing in the past that psilocybin is one molecule different than serotonin, a very key receptor in our brains that naturally occurs

I feel it's dangerous, just like sniffing spray paint

one of the reasons people OD on Fentanyl, is they do not know their drugs are laced with it, part of the effect of the war on drugs

So, you are saying that if Fentanyl was legal, there would be no OD's?

You want thousands like this Democrat run city in every major city?

I never heard that, and would honestly be a bit doubtful of that. Perhaps you are thinking of cannabinoids? That product of marijuana, is a natural part of our biomechanics. And I just learned, from Steady Pie, that DMT, is also something we produce (albeit, I'm sure, in very small quantities).

I wonder if there would be any way to extract it, if one kept a crop of humans, in their basement? But excuse my wandering thoughts, I haven't yet had my DMT, today.
