Musk... the HERO OF FREE SPEECH is a multibillionaire. You can always find dirt on a multibillionaire if you look hard enough. Libs aren't happy unless they have a problem to complain about.. so they look HARD.

I have no problem that Twitter had preferred content. I found it stupid, and legally questionable. I have no problem that Musk bought it and wants to completely change the rules. I’m actually glad, because previous policy was pretty damn shitty.

In neither case, is the 1st Amendment being violated.

Sure, we have a tradition of embracing free speech and that is a good thing. I was talking about the law, not American traditions.

Our traditions and commitment to Free Speech run much deeper than just the First Amendment.

MAKE THEM PAY: Jury awards $645,837 to Auburn professor demoted for criticizing lax degree standards.

He actually was free to speak publicly about his views of unfair treatment on a college campus, who knew?

    So what?
Auburn will appeal, and almost certainly get the $500k Punituve Damage amount reduced...
And, he gets $145k in lost wages...Big Whoop...

We see it here every day, and on every platform that has these types of people.

They are little hall monitors that run to the manager to report everything you say that they don't like.

They'll use any excuse to try and silence anyone, or anything, they don't like, while engaging in the most egregious cases of self perpetuating ignorance possible.

One of the defining characteristics of these people is that they constantly post things that are just wrong....obviously wrong....non-debateably wrong....that they could easily verify before they say it.

But....they don't. Their feelings is where they derive their sense of reality.

"I feel like" has become their mantra.

Different argument that I never even mentioned.

But sure, if you want to change the argument....

Isn't it available over the counter at Walmart and every drug store in the country?

Fake News. Where is your link and pull quote demonstrating that this is the likely outcome, or that they are even appealing?

Thank You for your thoughts concerning the subject matter. I did not assume I knew what you thought about that subject matter. I agree with your thoughts concerning that matter.

The idea that neither case violated the 1st Amendment is what I question in the main debate about Social Media is based on this link…

Access to Social Media Protected by First Amendment
May 12, 2020 | The Legal Eagle Lowdown by Maria Wood

    S
nippet follows. It is a interesting read.

In the old days, the public square referred to a colonial village square where people gathered to share ideas and pass out written material. Today’s public square is arguably the Internet and more specifically social media.

With an 8-0 decision, the U. S. Supreme Court ruled in June 2017 that the Internet is similar to a public forum and that social media is protected under the First Amendment, which guarantees every person’s right to free speech.

“A fundamental principle of the First Amendment is that all persons have access to places where they can speak and listen, and then, after reflection, speak and listen once more,” wrote Justice Anthony Kennedy in the Court’s majority opinion.

In other words, social media is not only a place where people go to express their viewpoints, but a place to gather information as well. Therefore, governments cannot limit who can log onto social media channels, including those convicted of crimes.

Next subject about another post ~ I thought your following question which I responded too was different from the Social Media question.

Your Quote ~ “Which words in the constitution guarantee you the right to worship Satan in a Christian newspaper?”

I thought your question was very interesting. You combined religious freedom with free speech freedom. I simply supplied legal information and other information concerning the idea of those two very opposing belief systems and the one wanting to use the others newspaper to promote their belief system since they do state it is not a religion. I had no answer to that question. I had questions.

Because it's not an error. Newspapers are not bound to by the First Amendment, as you say, because they are publishers who perform an editorial function on their own content. A social media site like Twitter or Facebook isn't a publisher and doesn't edit their content (except in an after the fact way), it's posted directly by users. It's a legal distinction that has to do with defamation and other civil issues. Newspapers are legally responsible for their content, and social media is not.

Both are free to decide what they allow or don't allow on their platforms. They can decide to not allow porn, for example, or people who harass other posters.

Obama is definitely an American. He was born in a US hospital in one of the states in the United States, called Hawaii. The rest of your post is pure garbage.

You would have a better change with Ted Cruz as not qualified since he was born in Canada, not the United States. But even Cruz will disagree with you.
