Is wokeness the remedy to fascism?

There is a word in Russian that doesn't translate easily: poshlost'. Gogol explained it as gilded feces. Your post brought it to mind.

 

Then define "woke".

 

Wokeness IS Facism.

 

That tells us nothing. I woke this morning and arose for the day. Is that fascism?

I'll admit that "wokeism" is about exposing the flaws, the evils, the contradictions of capitalism. But that's what most of the political left is about. So? The political right is about serving top, rich, capitalists at the expense of workers and lying about it to maximize acceptance. So?

 

Woke is the belief that various forms of oppression exist (racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia) and that these forms are all interconnected (intersectionalism) and are deeply embedded in all social structures (structural racism).

Wokeism demands that these structures be dismantled and so attacks every social norm, including meritocracy, family, childhood innocence.

It is correct and necessary that if we are to solve problems and move forward we must analyze and dissect and critique all forms of racism, sexism, homophobia, and other discrimination. And we must seek their roots and dig them out to eliminate them. You ARE opposed to racism, sexism, and homophobia, aren't you?

 

The last part is well documented by the words and action of wokesters. The latest attack on meritocracy, for example, is the removal of the LSAT for law school admissions.

I am not interested in dismantling our society because blacks and women are not as good at STEM as whites and males. Racial and gender equality is a myth contradicted every day by easily observable facts.

 

And the political left theses days is about creating giant private public partnerships by which and through which they hope to control every last facet of everyone's life.

 

Whether you take me seriously makes no difference. I've said what I had to say and saying it is good enough. If you don't "get it" who cares?

 

1) Yes they can. Look at the parents, and you'll be able to predict this with considerable accuracy. Since a child's attitude to education is learned at home, that's all you need. Are the parents very invested in the child's progress? Are they models of self-discipline themselves?

2) That's unbelievably silly, sorry. Education .. especially during childhood .. is not a result of passion or interest, it's a result of much less glamorous things like duty/discipline/rote learning. Achieving the marks needed for 'difficult' qualifications is rarely anything but sheer hard work. To suggest that a kid wanting to do medicine (for example) can just cruise along in a non-formulaic way, learning only those things that interest them, 'at their own pace', is raving nonsense.

Do you mean the Left as in the folk who just adore their capitalism? The folk who wouldn't dream of living without it, nor the freedoms that only come with a capitalist democracy? That Left?

Or are you talking about some fictional idea of the Left that no longer exists (replaced by the previously Right wing elites and middle classes now known as Progressives)?

 

Anyone that equates wokeness with education never got one.

Which version? There's the original version and then there's the coopted version called woke-washing used by whites that is vastly different to the original version.

 

In partial defense of those whites, it was at the insistence of the originators of the original version.
