Two 6-ton drones penetrated more than 300 miles into Russian airspace and hit targets that are located in military installations that manage Russian strategic aviation.
These huge machines went all the way through, seemingly undetected.
You can make only one conclusion from this - Russian airspace is not defended anymore. If a drone from 1970s could strike a strategic nuclear bomber deep into Russian territory, imagine how fast Russia would be disarmed if NATO really rolled up its sleeves!

aye .. keep the hopes and wishfull dreams alive young skywalker .. but alas .. being so low on ammo .. start having to drag out recon drones from the 70's and send them "hurtling" inside Russian territory .. in areas far asunder from the crime scene doesn't amount to much young padawan . and no NATO not comming to the rescue .. friends have deserted you cause they out of ammo too .. and won't give you the good stuff .. allow your friends in Ukraine to attack the Russian Homeland directly .. a lost cause I'm afraid. Vlad will be keeping his new territories .. Nato has bigger fish to fry .. China being neglected while this pesky conflict continues..

Russians did shut down a couple of those drones over last summer.
Looks like Russians used up so many S-300 for bombing ground targets that they have virtually nothing left to defend their airspace.
Kursk was just hit like an hour ago, proving my point. :)

    Ukraine Conflict Updates
Ukrainian officials have indicated that Ukrainian forces plan to continue offensive operations over the coming winter to capitalize on recent battlefield successes and prevent Russian forces from regaining the battlefield initiative. Spokesperson of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Eastern Group Serhii Cherevatyi stated on December 4 that frozen ground enables heavy wheeled and tracked vehicles to advance and that Ukrainian forces are preparing such vehicles for winter operations.[1] Cherevatyi also stated that low-quality mobilized recruits and Wagner Group personnel recruited from Russian prisoners are unprepared for combat in the winter.[2] The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense (MoD) stated on November 20 that those who suggest the winter will pause hostilities “likely never sunbathed in January on the southern coast of Crimea,” suggesting that Ukrainian forces intend to continue counteroffensive operations over the coming winter that contribute toward the goal of retaking Crimea.[3] Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Volodymyr Havrylov stated on November 18 that Ukrainian forces will continue to fight in the winter because any type of pause will allow Russian forces to reinforce their units and positions.[4] Ukrainian officials’ prior statements on ongoing Ukrainian counteroffensive actions in Kherson Oblast are further evidence that these official statements on winter counteroffensive actions are indicators of continuing counteroffensive operations.[5] . . .

Weather conditions in winter 2023 likely will dictate a timeframe in which Ukraine can conduct maneuver warfare and continue its string of operational successes with minimal pauses that would increase the risks of Ukraine losing the initiative. The fall mud season in November hampered maneuver warfare, as ISW previously noted.[10] Both Russia and Ukraine nevertheless continued aggressive offensive and counter-offensive operations throughout this muddy period despite some Western predictions that the mud would suspend operations. As the hard freeze approaches in late December, Ukrainian forces will be again able to exploit the weather conditions. Winter is usually the best season for mechanized warfare in Ukraine whereas spring is the nightmare season for fighting in Ukraine.[11] The thaw swells rivers and streams and turns fields into seas of mud.[12] Ukrainian forces likely are preparing to take advantage of frozen terrain to move more easily than they could in the muddy autumn months.[13] . . .

Authority on what .. have you nothing better than ad hom fallacy .. Told you the future many times .. watched it come true .. dispelling your fairy tale fantasies .. so while I get that you look on me as an elightened .. make a guru unto no man .. If you see Budda by the side of the Road .. Kill him .. a name of book recommended to you .. for the followers . and the sheep in the room .. worshiping spoon fed propaganda gods .. emotional blindness afflicted .. no ability to assess "Big Picture"

but alas .. I am not your Guru .. some afflictions can not be cured .. never mind by me .. from the outside ... when only from the inside can be addressed .. the poison lizard lies there.

US Army Plans Ammunition Surge Amid Ukraine War. The US Army is seeking to significantly increase production of 155mm artillery shells over the next three years as the Ukraine war strains ammunition supplies. Officials say the Army plans to go from making 14,000 155 mm shells a month to 20,000 in spring 2023 and 40,000 by 2025. The planned ammo surge is set to be funded by emergency spending and $600 million in industrial investments under the next proposed tranche of Ukraine aid. Defense News

Ukraine Drones Hit Russian Military Bases. The New York Times reports that Ukrainian drones struck the Ryazan and Engels military bases deep within Russia on Monday. The Russian defense ministry and a senior Ukrainian official confirmed the apparent escalation, which would signal a significant development in Kyiv’s offensive capabilities. Another new Ukrainian drone attack also hit the Khalino military airfield in the western Russian city of Kursk on Tuesday, according to officials. The Ukrainian government still has yet to publicly acknowledge the strikes. New York Times Reuters

    Russian Offensive Campaign ...
RUSSIAN OFFENSIVE CAMPAIGN ASSESSMENT, DECEMBER 5

ISW is publishing an abbreviated campaign update today, December 5. ISW will resume regular updates on December 6. This report discusses today’s wave of Russian strikes against Ukrainian critical infrastructure and the likely Ukrainian UAV strikes against Russian strategic air bases on December 5.

Key inflections in ongoing military operations on December 5:

    • Russian forces continued to defend their positions along the Svatove-Kreminna line against Ukrainian attacks.[16]
    • Russian forces continued to make incremental gains around Bakhmut but have not yet surrounded the city, and conducted offensive operations in the Avdiivka-Donetsk City area. Ukrainian sources claimed that small Russian assault groups of 15-20 personnel are attempting to penetrate Ukrainian lines.[17]
    • Russian occupation officials continued the forceful transfer of Ukrainian children from occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts to Russia under the guise that the children require special medical care.[18]
    • Russian forces shelled more than 20 settlements on the right (west) bank of the Dnipro River and continued to strike Kherson City.[19]
    • Russian senator Andrey Klishas of the ruling United Russia party proposed the Kremlin restrict the ability of Russians who fled the country to avoid mobilization to secure work upon returning to Russia.[20]
    • Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) reported that the Russian military, in concert with the Russian Internal Ministry, is taking steps to launch an electronic database by February 2023 to document the personal details of all servicemen and restrict their movement even when out of uniform.[21] . . .
Russian forces conducted another wave of missile strikes targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure on December 5. Russian and Ukrainian sources reported on December 5 that Russian forces conducted missile strikes targeting Ukrainian civilian and energy infrastructure in Kyiv, Odesa, Vinnetysia, and Zaporizhia Oblasts.[1] The Ukrainian General Staff reported that Ukrainian air defenses shot down 60 of over 70 missiles launched.[2] Deputy Head of Ukraine's Presidential Office Kyrylo Tymoshenko Kyrylo Tymoshenko stated that the Russian strikes damaged a power supply line in Sumy Oblast.[3] ISW previously assessed on December 2 that while Ukrainian and Western-provided air defenses are further reducing Russia’s dwindling supply of precision munitions, the small percentage of Russian strikes getting through Ukraine’s air defenses are nevertheless having significant effects on Ukrainian critical infrastructure.[4]

Ukrainian forces likely conducted strikes on two Russian strategic airbases on December 5, inflicting light damage while demonstrating Ukraine’s ability to strike Russian rear areas and possibly disrupt Russia’s campaign of strikes against Ukrainian infrastructure. The Russian Ministry of Defense and several milbloggers reported that Ukrainian forces used UAVs to strike the Engels-2 airbase in Saratov Oblast (approximately 315 miles from Ukrainian territory) and the Dyagilevo Air Base in Ryazan Oblast (approximately 285 miles from Ukrainian territory).[5] Both airbases house elements of Russia’s strategic bomber fleet, which Russia has employed to strike Ukraine throughout the war. Ukrainian Presidential Advisor Mikhail Podolyak tweeted that the Kremlin should have known that “if something is launched into other countries’ airspace, sooner or later unknown flying objects will return to departure point.” Still, Ukrainian authorities have not formally claimed responsibility for the strikes as of publication.[6] Russian sources claimed that a Ukrainian drone struck aircraft at the Engels-2 Airbase in Saratov Oblast, Russia, damaging strategic bombers and missile carriers.[7] Russian sources also claimed that a Ukrainian drone destroyed a Russian fuel truck at the Dyagilevo Air Base in Ryazan Oblast, Russia.[8] The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that the strike intentionally targeted Russian long-range aircraft.[9] Ukrainian forces likely sought to disrupt Russian strikes against Ukrainian critical infrastructure and demonstrate Ukraine’s ability to target Russian strategic assets.

Anger over the Russian military’s inability to prevent the Ukrainian strikes on Russian strategic airbases over 280 miles from Ukrainian positions outweighed praise for the latest round of strikes against Ukraine within the Russian milblogger community. Russian milbloggers criticized Russian officials for failing to anticipate and prevent the drone strikes at the Engels-2 and Dyagilevo Air Bases on December 5.[10] Select milbloggers noted that Russian military officials have not adequately protected the airbases, with some suggesting that Russian officials did not adequately defend the bases despite knowing that they were clear targets for Ukrainian strikes.[11] Several prominent Russian milbloggers claimed that Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups must have launched the strike against the Engels-2 air base from inside Russian territory, asserting either that Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups are active inside Russia or – if the UAVs were launched from Ukrainian territory – that Moscow is under threat from Ukrainian territory.[12] . . .
