The collapse of USSR was not the result of war in Afghanistan. The failure of Russia in Ukraine will not result in the breakup of RF.

Afghanistan contributed to it....I've even talked to a former conscript years back who served in Astan 87-88 and who immigrated to US....he was from Saratov....basically admitted Afstan was USSR demise.

Russias disaster in Ukraine will be felt for decades.

The RF being what it is, it certainly won't be in a position of strength and stability.

This is certainly true. But I think noone in the west is interested in the full disintegration of Russia. EU for sure will not want to have a bunch of regions that are not far away and which have a permanent chaos.

Afghanistan just happened at the end of the existence of Soviet Union. It is a coincidence. The collapse started earlier and had an economical and political origin, rather than military (loss in Afghanistan).

Dissolve it....return stolen territory to rightful owners.....auction off the rest to the highest bidders. I'm sure Chinos will be more than interested.

    Afstan buried it.

Just like Ukraine will contribute to RF demise.

My dad was over and as the nightly news just went on and the lead story was that the Soviets invaded Afghanistan. My dad almost jumped out of his chair and said “ that will be those bastards Vietnam”.

Whether the EU wants it or not doesn't seem all that relevant. If Russia goes to pieces, it won't be the EU's doing.

A failed rogue nation with a terminally ill dictator (reportedly) slowly crumbling due to corruption with nukes — I didn’t have this on my 202_ bingo card

Those in the know were well aware of the state of affairs in Russia well before the recent increase in hostilities in Ukraine. Ukraine is not the cause of the disintegration of Russia, this was known to be case prior to Feb 2022 and even before 2014. Russia is not a superpower and hasn't been for quite some time. The invasion of Ukraine by Russia is not the cause it is a symptom of Russia's decline. Afghanistan did play a role in the collapse of the Soviet Union. But even there, it was merely the last gasp of a dying empire. We (The Allies) have been aware of the weakness and irrelevance of Russia as a major player for some time. The a$$-kicking we gave them in Syria is but one example of how clearly incapable they have become. We destroyed them with little effort in Syria and their failures in Ukraine are likewise without surprise. The rantings of a narcissistic Leprechaun from a has-been nation is hardly worth serious consideration.

    Yep.
2023 will probably be the last year Russia exists in its current state.

What makes you think there would be permanent chaos? Smaller nations will have governments closer to their constituents, improving the chances of developing real democracy.
Russia cannot exist in its current form for much longer. Only blind don’t see what’s going on.

Russia is doomed....no one's f***ing anymore to make little orcs....so they need to steal and kidnap young ones in Ukraine.Brainwash them....teach them nonsense, etc.

How many conscripts ran away to points West....hundreds of thousands....how many orcs dead in Ukraine ....it's larger into 6 figures now....how many wounded?....psychologically f@cked up and no use to society....what's life expectancy?....a stellar 63 yrs?....and that's if you look after yourself....shower,brush your teeth, don't smoke or drink(much that is), regular maintenance checkups, eat healthy, etc. Most Russkis don't practice this.

Out of roughly 140 mln Russkis .... 30+ mln are non Russians, 30% have no toilets or showers,70% or more have never been abroad.

I doubt it. Putin will go down with the ship. Hos days are numbered so he will try to fight a civil war until he is dragged out by his heels.

If you remember the territory of Russia was divided on many small kingdoms back centuries ago which had permanent fight with each other for the resources, territories, etc Same **** may happen if Russia falls apart. With one exclusion-some selected people will have nuclear weapons in their hands. I am sure there are a lot of those outside of Russia who would want to get their hands in the very rich natural resources of Russia. This will create additional instability.

The problem is the KGB trained Leprechaun of a dying empire has nuclear weapons. We have to bet that the KGB Turd does not want to commit suicide by out of control radiation from bombs set off by amateurs.

In the first couple or so years after the USSR dissolved I had a chance to informally speak with a former political prisoner and a member of the Ukrainian parliament post independence. While sipping cognacs a small groups of us asked him what will happen to the former USSR. He mentioned how within his “work” group in the Gulag there were some people from a few parts of Siberia and it was his opinion that Siberia would some time in the future become an independent republic.
