Donald J. Trump’s family real estate business was convicted on Tuesday of tax fraud and other financial crimes, a remarkable rebuke of the former president’s company and what prosecutors described as its “culture of fraud and deception.”

The conviction on all 17 counts, after more than a day of jury deliberations in State Supreme Court in Manhattan, resulted from a long-running scheme in which the Trump Organization doled out off-the-books luxury perks to some executives: They received fancy apartments, leased Mercedes-Benzes, even private school tuition for relatives, none of which they paid taxes on.

Hopefully, this is the beginning of the end for Trump doing business in NY. I don't think the fines amount to much but the ramifications for the biz could be bigly. This could be the first of a number of dominoes to fall.

The fine that the company is facing is not especially large, less than $2 million. But the verdict could affect future business endeavors by the firm.

Does anyone believe Trump wasn't responsible for this scheme?

If they do, then I got a ticket to a Trump University course I'd like to sell you :)

Yes, members of The Following. You gotta wonder if this verdict has caught the attention of the IRS.

LoL this case is about one guy in Trump's organization not claiming gifts on HIS personal taxes.

It had nothing to do with the Trump organization.

It's like saying the state of CA is guilty of tax evasion if the lottery winner doesn't pay their lottery taxes.

Gosh, what a complete mis-characterization. Is your summary from Faux's coverage or Newsmax's? The Trump Org. was on trial, not any one individual.

    https://www.npr.org/2022/12/06/1140...rumps-company-found-guilty-criminal-tax-fraud

Weisselberg previously pleaded guilty to 15 felony tax charges. He admitted hiding the part of his salary that was paid through untaxed benefits like a luxury apartment, Mercedes-Benz leases for him and his wife, and private school tuition for his grandchildren.

The compensation was never reported to New York State or to the IRS.

As part of his plea deal, Weisselberg agreed to testify truthfully and to serve five months in jail.

Wow, you guys will slurp up just about anything :roflol:
This was about Weisselberg pleaded guilty to felony tax charges and nothing to do with the Trump organization.
How is it you and others like yourself are so easily duped?
    Amazing to actually watch

Allen Weisselberg's guilty plea was way back in August, today's verdict was against the Trump Organization, and not against any one individual.

The Weisselberg guilty plea is not today's verdict, that guilty plea was way back in August. Today's verdict was against the Trump organization.. even the link which you yourself provided says that (the title of the article should be a giveaway too)

"Prosecutors had previously secured a guilty plea last summer from by Trump's former longtime chief financial Officer Allen Weisselberg, who became the star witness for the prosecution in the case

On Halloween, prosecutors made their opening arguments in the trial of the Trump Corporation (which encompasses most of his business empire) and the Trump Payroll Corporation (which processes payments to staff), arguing that the case was about "greed and cheating."

The fact that you're misinterpreting the news story to this extent, while simultaneously making posts insulting other peoples' intelligence in the same thread is astounding

I wonder what we would find if we investigated every company of the same economic status as deeply as the Trump organization. The double standard is crap and you know it, but I'm seeing some light here. This could damage his chance of running/winning primaries even more which I see as good.

This isn't likely to hurt his chances, this is neither the first time a Trump establishment has been found guilty of a crime, nor is it the worst occurrence. The Trump Foundation started a fundraiser for wounded vets, and then took millions of dollars out of that fund raiser, and used it for Trump's presidential campaign instead. That particular organization was shut down, they were made to pay a fine, and then everyone pretty much forgot about it.

    Nope

    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-organization-trial-fraud-scheme-allen-weisselberg-testifies/

Former Trump Organization chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg testified in court Thursday, describing how Donald Trump and two of his children allegedly participated in a scheme to defraud tax authorities.

Weisselberg said Donald Trump, or at times Eric Trump or Donald Trump Jr., signed checks to pay up to $100,000 for private school tuition for Weisselberg's grandchildren. Weisselberg said he then instructed the company's controller to deduct the $100,000 from his salary, allowing him to report a smaller income. Copies of some of the checks signed by the Trumps have been shown in court.

$2M and no time? Chump change. Porn Lawyer Michael Avenatti just got 14 years in the slammer and ordered pay $11M in restitution.

You think that the Trump organisation did not carry out tax fraud? If so, what do you base that on?

The Court's ruled and sanctioned, they need to pay the sanction. Much like the Obama Campaign Was Fined Big for Hiding Donors, Keeping Illegal Donations 'The FEC levied one of its largest fines ever against Obama's campaign committee, new documents show.'

'Barack Obama's presidential campaign has been fined $375,000 by the Federal Election Commission for violating federal disclosure laws, Politico reports.'

'An FEC audit of Obama for America's 2008 records found the committee failed to disclose millions of dollars in contributions and dragged its feet in refunding millions more in excess contributions.'

Obama paid up, and I urge the Trump Organization to promptly do the same.
