I don't think this story is telling the narrative you're trying to spin.

This is yet another tale of illegal aliens taking jobs of US workers because they can be paid cheaper with no labor laws at all.

Most Republicans think their workers should pay THEM, for selflessly providing work without which we would all just get into trouble

"Waddaya mean you need money for food? I bought y'all lunch just last week and only two of you have died so far, get back ta work."

Why do you think the borders are open?

And when you got home your father took your money and then KILLED you all with a sword. I'll bet kids today wouldn't deal at all well with that

Having employed a number of undocumented Latinos back in the 70s in Florida agricultural projects, my bet on this story is that those young workers were happy to be there working. My bet it was not 'forced labor' at all, but consensual labor.

    Bingo.
You get the prize for the best summative answer provided.

And if you don't understand how a current system of manipulation can exist, all you have to do is look back at the "Roman" system used during antebellum slavery.

Non sequitur much? I have no idea what point you're trying to make.

Why? The days were long, the people were awesome, & the pay was good. Bought my first car with that money, and put a lot more away.

Plus there were occasionally good views. One summer, Burt Reynolds had his yacht moored to a private dock nearby, which all us teenage deckhands carefully examined with our binoculars. To verify the vessel was seaworthy. That Loni Anderson might've been on deck in a bikini was purely coincidental. Really.

And the ultra rich exploiting that

Why are they allowed to employ these cheaper workers?

BB, you do know that kids can work at 14 in Australia, right?

One of my kids works with quite a few who are aged 14 - 16. They're all real go-getters, too .. that's why they're out learning skills and earning money, while their peers are playing video games or sleeping.

Oh, no! I drive a Kia. Now, whenever I drive it, I will be full of shame for having given financial aid to a company that supports child slavery in America. :(

Because we have a political class that is paid off by the ultra rich donors to make sure our border remains wide open to allow in illegal workers who have no rights as a result of...being illegal. Perfect fodder.
