I think it certainly makes sense to prohibit the purchase of soda and chips and candy. Far too many people spend the majority of their SNAP benefits on junk food.

seems they are getting a lot of push back from Republicans, this is a farm state after all, and many raise cattle

seems republican in their hast to go after the poor, they forgot what they people want and forgot about the farmers

So do you support banning meat from SNAP?

Just because republicans in power can do bad things, doesn't mean they should

Republicans don't want to ban meat...they want to put specific guidelines on Snap...guidelines modeled for wic.

Snap...or in my day it was called food stamps...is ripe for fraud and its given out in excess. As a person who used to be on welfare...I will say that I only learned to budget after I was off of it. Estrictions are good for the recipient.

I agreed with the goals of the program, but it was not implemented with a uniform quality level everywhere. In our district the school lunches became extremely low quality. They were disgusting, and I'm not picky about food. The school sourced their food (and at one point staffed their kitchens) from an outside provider. I saw all sorts of picture examples online back when that started and some of it looked great. I suspect we all saw the best and worst examples. If the program had been applied with more uniform results(which would be hard to do), it would have had a better reception.

That of course excludes those who opposed it purely because it was a Michelle Obama and a Democrat thing. But there were legitimate criticisms too.

When I was a kid we took our lunch to school in a sackl or a lunch box. That worked out pretty well.

I would take off the juice and allow a basic multivitamin supplement to be put on the list. Pretty much the only value to any of the cheaper juices, is if they are fortified with Vitamin C. Its often the micronutrients that come up missing in restrictive diets. Access to a sufficient variety of fresh quality produce is not always easy to come by consistently whether they are on 'the list' or not. A basic multi-vit solves a lot of potential problems.

They should. And kill WIC too. Both are now just frauds.

All you ever see using SNAP....or in Texas...the "LoneStar Card" are a bunch of lardasses that don't need any food supplements.

You'll see them use the SNAP card for ribeyes and Cheetos....from one end to the other...many things MOST PAYING Americans don't purchase on the regular...like prime steaks...because of course PAYING Americans can't afford them.

For what the SNAP card won't pay for...they just pull out another card or dole out cash. It's a *******ned rip off.

Once I tried to report a group of illegals...baskets stacked high...hundreds of dollars spent...proceeded to pile everything in their new hummer. Called the state, told them the license plate/registered owner....but the 'minority' on the phone said I couldn't report them because of privacy. Such bullshit. I wish the whole damn Ponzi would hurry up and crash so we could rid ourselves of these leeches...in the public and in DC.

Some of you probably don't know this but before video games and credit cards, there was a time when food stamps (SNAP) only paid for a certain amount of cheese, beans and rice (any only the people who really couldn't afford the basics used them).

Of course you want to destroy SNAP in America. Anything to harm or destroy America and sow discontent.

Tell me do they have SNAP in Russia?

How long before your time runs out as a sleeper agent? How long before you're called up to go fight for Russia in Ukraine? And will you go?

How long have you been this dumb? Do you look for Putin under your bed at night? I can tell you what they have in Texas...boots...and what they're good for if you'd like to come visit.

Don't bother to deny it. I've seen you agree with the usual Russian propaganda posters.

Only a heartless person would be against WIC, which is why I suspect ulterior reasons.

    I have so many questions.

    1. How did you know that the people you were reporting were illegal?
    2. Where did you get the idea that there was a time when you could only by cheese, beans and rice with food stamps? (I ask because it isn't true)
    3. How many times have you witnessed someone using a SNAP card and how did you know?

I have more, but that will do for now.

Nothing like that.We simply mean to reestablish personal responsibility. Are you old enough to remember when individuals earned their own way in life, when people weren't just given a free ride?

No, I'm not old enough to remember that!

Although I've heard legends of people earning a middle-class living on a part-time job, housing was not much more expensive than a car, which was also very affordable, and the gas was cheap. And one earned a retirement pension from their job.

It's not the current reality of the world I find myself in, however.

Because of all these government welfare frauds you support. There is no free ****ing lunch. And then magically people wake up with this stupid look on their faces and wonder how people used to survive and with one middle-class income.

I'm not here to hold your hand, fyi.

    1. 2 points, you don't live in a border state and you haven't read the law.
    2. Because it's ****ing true. States differed somewhat but they didn't call it "being on the government cheese" for nothing. My grandparents were on it for a brief time...because they didn't have a dime in their pocket. Not like these shitbags use it today.
    3. A **** ton in Texas. The card looks a certain way....you can't miss it.

Excuse me if I don't believe anything you say.

For example, how about a source to your claim that all you could buy was cheese, beans and rice?

Please, educate us. How do "welfare frauds" make, say, housing more expensive.
