One project of the Poynter Institute specifically, the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), was launched in 2015 with its initial funding coming from the National Endowment for Democracy (backed by the US State Department), the Omidyar Network, Google, Facebook, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and George Soros’ Open Society Foundations.

The fact checking industry has never been anything more than a censorship tool. It was created by the left to censor the right and to silence us. They then label our beliefs and viewpoints as disinformation. The whole collection of these tools of the left are funded by George Soros through the Poynter Institute and the IFCN as front groups.

The fact checkers version of reality just isn’t so. The left has nothing on truth and facts over its opposition. MBFC and the rest are nothing more than a censorship control tool.

 

Well that’s just wrong and totally not true.

 

It is just crazy that people see George Soros is some kind of evil force. They don't understand anything about him or his beliefs.

People should watch his 4 hour talk about reflexivity on youtube instead of reading what the right wing media puts out about him.

It's easy to argue against your articles because they deal in absolutes and almost nothing is absolute. No matter who funds "fact checkers" its important to note that the "right" gets caught out by them because of "it's" penchant for manufacturing facts to support their propaganda. Like most progressive liberals Soros (apparently) doesn't care what the "facts" are as long as they are true and accurate.

 

Anybody with a unbiased brain KNOWS that Blightfart only publishes THEIR editorialized version of fact(s).

 

There's no such thing as fact checking. That's just a journalist calling themselves fact checkers so they have more credibility.

George Soros might be the most evil person who never held public office. He has found a way to spread his poison through out the world.

This makes me wonder, why does he want to spread crime as far as possible? Why does he want to hurt people who live in the inner cities? When I was college, one of the reasons given for why anarchists, which is what George Soros is, commit the acts that they do to get more repressive laws passed. The reason they want to spread disorder and commit crimes is that they are looking for the conservatives to clamp down on freedom which will prompt more people to join the left. That appears to be Soros' goal.

The more people who are hurt by criminals, the more calls there will be to control them. That could lead to reactions like the Patriot Act which has now become a tool of repression for the government. Instead of being directed toward Islamic terrorists, which was the original intent, it is now directed toward the Democrat Party's political opposition with flawed institutions like the FISA Court.

Soros supports soft on crime DAs to frustrate police, and make their job harder. After a while some of the police reach boiling point and over react. When they do, Soros has realized his goal.

One thing is for certain. We need sunshine laws for George Soros. When he gives huge contributions to a political candidate, the voters should know about it. It should be a major political issue for a Soros backed candidate.

Sadly Soros has billions and will never run out of money. Even worse, he has children who are as bad as he is who will keep his movement going after he's gone.

Most of what I read here from the left is rubbish so we are in agreement that we all write rubbish.

There is long list of the soft on crime DAs from Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City and San Francisco who are all Soros sponsored.

 

Fact checkers are never the source of the truth, only validators of it and they offer the underlying reasoning for it.

One major problem is that everything in our society is monetized, so anytime there are fact checkers, there will be competitors, and there will be an incentive for competitors to discredit each other. This is an easy way for people who don't benefit from fact checkers to sew doubt against facts.

I don't know how we get to a universally accepted fact checking system. Information is just too easy to produce now.
