An US airport worker who died after being sucked into a jet engine had been repeatedly warned about the dangers of going near it, an investigation has found.

According to a report by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the employee at the Montgomery Regional Airport in Alabama had undergone a safety huddle on how to move around the plane 10 minutes before it landed on December 31.

The crew carried out a second briefing when the American Eagle jet arrived after pilots left the aircraft running.

Man what a way to leave this earth! Crazy *she* was warned about this numerous times, and still died in that manner. I wonder what the scene looked like after.

the victim was a female and mother of 3.

It is tragic and no matter how many DANGER signs you erect, or put the words HOT on a cup of coffee, accidents will occur.

If you’ve been warned several times it’s not tragic any more. It’s just gross.

I’m sure OSHA will have a lot to say about this.

God, that would be a horrible engine to have to rebuild for the company.

It's always sad when someone dies, slightly less so when they were repeatedly warned not to do what got them killed.

undoubtedly the other employees will now be subjected to further regulations they don't need in order to prevent them from doing something only .0001% of the population are dumb enough to do.

Perhaps it would be beneficial to the families of dumb people if airlines were allowed to not hire people that are dumb?

Proof again of what so many people seem unwilling to accept. A large part of the population needs to be protected as if children. The implication of what is "average intelligence" is that many humans are not intelligent enough to function in the modern world and are stumbling through life, often abused and exploited by those more intelligent who lack charity. "Freedom" does not really exist for those who are effectively handicapped, but it is unpopular to confront the truth.

It's terrible for her and her family. I don't know how long she worked there but sometimes people get confused....especially with the noise and chaos a plane engine can create. And personally I'm not judging her.
And I will say that "attempts " to warn her isn't evidence of real communication. The airlines need to really review and not just blame the victim outright.

every airport employee should be taught about what happened here and in other examples, this should be used to teach future employees why safety is important

when we were learnign to drive, we were shown pictures of accidents to drive the point home of driving safely and that included being aware of other drivers that may not drive safely

I agree. Yep I've had photos that make me look not so sharp. You just asked the poster why she/he said the women didn't look very sharp and I helped answer the obvious.

I agree. Keep in mind that plane engines normally shut down as soon as the plane stops. In THIS instance the plane kept engines fired up because of some malfunction. This was not a common situation.

So this example can have lasting impact on future employees that might encounter a stopped plane with continuous engine power once in their lifetime.

I have been taught many things I have not encountered but good to have the education and not need it, then not to have it and need it, the victim in this case might have benefited too, couldn't hurt
