Deny Deny is rule number one when suspicious eye cast upon the CIA, Pentagon, State Dept. Its coming out no matter what .. a conditioned response and a necessary response in many respects. All other nations do it too

Take some of the other events however "No WMD" Iraq war. By the time there was defacto proof that this was a lie .. damage was already done . was years after the fact .. is not such a big deal that this comes our .. however even in this case was a big commission .. big yadda who .. cause after all was a collossal fk up .. and the world is watching.

The enemy is not going to retaliate when truth comes out years after the fact - in many cases - as situation has changed. So if nothing else .. Deny Deny is a stalling tactic which can muffle consequences when/if truth comes out.

and That's the problem .. The Truth has come out right away .. the crisis which spawned the terrorist act still ongoing. If for nothing but saving face in front of the Russian people the Gov't "Vlad" must retaliate .. or at least there is a whole lot more pressure to do so.

In addition .. the sentiment of the people in the EU to consider.. Watching the US engage in yet another "Do as we say - Not as we Do" moment -- and suffering heavily as a result of this act of international terrorism.

Then consider the rest of the world .. upholding the Sanctions .. just another incident for nations like India to justify not being party to the Sanctions .. Nations like India being a whole lot . where is far more profitable to be on the fence .. make out like economic bandit .. less chance of repercussions.

This was a big Biden fk up .. far bigger than most people realize.. This is what we have a President in place to prevent -- checks and balances failed. According to Hersh .. there were many questining this action up front .. then when it actually happened .. those inside were shaking head and going this was bad move... no way Russia would not be able to figure out very quickly .. No other realistic possibilities .. and the evidence they have of their own .. but also that generally available .. the big navel games that happened .. the war.. the situation. USA-Britain had this stamped all over forehead .. so Russian Gov't would know defacto .. but average citizen of the world still have a sliver of doubt to cling to. Not anymore .. guilty .. and expect short and long term fallout.. further destabilizing .. aiding the collapse of the old global order.

 

I doubt Russia is bluffing. Putin has been preparing Russia for this since 2000.

Why shouldn't they? The US and EU are supplying weapons to Ukraine.

I just watched again the speech Putin gave just days before the invasion and hours after the decision was made to invade. He tried to negotiate with the US and Ukraine. He talked about the mistake the USSR made before the Nazi's attacked his country and how the USSR was unprepared. He said this time Russia would attack first and not wait for Ukraine to attack when they were ready militarily. I agree Russia has every right to seek help from other countries. China will be a huge advantage to Russia. China has proven in the pas to be a game changer like Korea in the 50's, Vietnam. I believe after a US general recently made the claim the US would be at war with China in 2 years China sees Russia as a valuable partner to fight the US in hopes of weakening the US militarily. And so here we are.

The USSR believed the Nazis were not a threat either. This time Putin chose to strike first. He said Russia wasn’t waiting while watching Ukraine get stronger militarily. Knowing the USSR’s history it shouldn’t surprise anyone.

 

Nonsense. Germany and Russia fought against each other in WWI. Ukraine an Russia did not. Russia knew of Germany's designs of eastern expansion. Ukraine never had any such designs. Stalin was warned repeatedly of Hitlers coming invasion.

That Germany surprised the USSR is hard to believe, because the Germans apparently found out that the Russians were getting ready to attack the Germans. So, Germany's attack was a reaction of what they feared was coming, and they felt they had the best chance to defeat Stalin by getting there first.

We have some rosy times ahead of us, if China gets involved as well. The Neo-Cons might start to panic.

You confused WW2 with todays war. Why would you do that? You do seem to know about the surprise invasion of the Soviet Union by the Nazis.

For starters, both leaders didn't trust each other. Whatever the true reason for their pact was, I don't know, but I read that Russia had amassed military equipment along its western border in order to defend itself against an attack. A German reconnaissance airplane discovered that, took pictures and reported back to Berlin. Hitler interpreted that as an imminent sign of Russia getting ready to attack any time. Barbarossa was set in motion!
But Russia was set up for defense, not attack. That is apparently why the Germans made such a fantastic progress, only coming to a halt just before Moscow at the end of November 1941.

It just dawns on me, the war may have started on a misunderstanding. Germany thought they will be attacked, while Stalin had only figured on being ready to defend himself.
If Germany had not attacked, the war might have never happened!!!!
