He is a fine little dog. He looks very attentive and should be easy to train. He doesn't look very old, could be a cross between a black lab and some other type. His fur looks healthy probably at some point he was getting good food.

 

There may be some interesting flora and fauna there.. pack a magnifying glass.

Now I'm going to Mexico.

 

If it's growing in the ground it isn't chicken of the woods.
They grow on dead or dying trees.

 

Guess it is more research, it will have to remain a mystery mushroom.

Been messing with the new pup. He gets too excited and wants to jump up on and nip. He has some impressive teeth, broad shoulders, and a lean muscular build. I want him to become a well behaved animal that was trained properly without being scolded or punished and see how it works. He is learning how to heel.

 

I did and the app said it was white pored chicken of the woods.
I also went back down the hill to the mushroom and it was beside a dead tree it meets all the criteria to satisfy me.

He probably wants to play. Get him some sturdy toys to play with and try to teach him to play with them.

We played with an aluminum can. A game of fetch would be nice. .....been raining all day today.

 

I use it all the time. I've had my husband pull off the a few times to identify a plant I like.

 

Got Buddy to play fetch today.....at least I think it was close to that. I throw the ball and he goes and gets it. He goes and gets it till he gets tired of playing. Then he just leaves it. A goat got out....Buddy looked at me.....I said GO. He run the goat back in the fence where he belongs. Good boy! He guards the goats all day. He makes them easy to handle.

 

I’m a grandmother. It’s weird. It’s literally the first time I fell in love in 10 seconds. Ive never given birth, but dad has been in my life for most of his life.

Husbands are great. Mine will always take the time for me to look at a plant or take a picture.

 

Babies are great. You are going to be surprised at all the times you will think you just can't possibly love him anymore than you do already. What neat experiences you have in store for you. You will not be able to get enough of his first laugh. It will be literally like music. Lucky you..

 

Sounds like the pup is turning into a God smile moment.

 

I took time yesterday to look around where the mushroom was growing. There are other mushrooms growing on dead fall further back in the woods. Not any as large as the first one and a bit different. We just had a big rain and it is going to be interesting to see how many mushrooms spring up from the rain. Some look like chanterelles but not brave about them either.

 

Chanterelles do have similar looking species which are toxic so you are right to be very wary of them. I know of no poisonous mushroom which looks like chicken of the woods though. If you break a little off it and smell it you should be able to smell chicken.
I'd love the opportunity to cook it but I fully understand your reluctance.

 

I understand anyone's reluctance to eat a wild mushroom. Even if there was nothing wrong I would still not enjoy the experience because of fear. I do like the morel though.
