There's no such thing as gender conversion. Castrating or whatever the female version of cash trading is and various other plastic surgeries will never change anyones gender.

So not owning up to your dishonesty then. Not surprised.

Why can't Democrats just leave children alone to enjoy a happy and normal childhood?

The left misrepresents the issue of trans youth care. Butchering young kids who claim to be trans is not the answer yet so many on the left support it.

Aren't you rather comparing apples to oranges? Cosmetic surgery for birthmarks is not even close to removing breasts and genitalia.

Exactly lol. Just because you can claim both share a cosmetic element doesn’t all the sudden mean no other differences or nuance exist. On this issue, and multiple others, many on the left dumb arguments down to the smaller common factor (in this case the element of cosmetic motivation) and disregards all other far more relevant nuance.

    lmao it’s actually astounding.

And what exactly is the answer then?

Please explain as you would to someone who thinks they might actually be transgender.

Mabye those in question are having a childhood that is far from what you would class as "happy and normal".

Wait until your 18, a legal adult and can make a permanent decision? Loive life as whatever you want until then, but surgery and life altering drugs as a child? The same way you’d advise NOT to get a skull inked over your face as a teen no matter how badly you may think you need it, some decisions are better left to when you have more experience. Then do whatever you want.

Of course when you have all these new age pseudoscience goobly Gunk followers, pumping their heads full of confusing garbage about "gender spectrum".

They are children, what they need is stable guidance rooted in reality and logic. Not someone to come along and tell them well you might really be this....

Just because someone catches little Johnny playing with a doll does not mean they need to tell little Johnny that he's little Janet and put him in a dress

What if it's them telling someone not someone telling them?

I've never really known any transgender people, at least I don't think I have. There seem to be a lot of "experts" on here with advice on what to tell them but I wonder if they've had any first hand experience with someone suffering actual gender dysphoria. Maybe a conversation would open their minds a little?

I honestly don't think it's as simple as that but of course oversimplifying an issue is a way to put something into a neat box so you don't have to deal with it.

Do you have any theory on why this new so-called dilemma is somehow suddenly all of the rage in progressive circles? This issue did not exist until the far left progressive started trying to make hay out of it

Don't 80 percent or something stupid simply outgrow it?

The correct thing to do is "wait and see". Hence...take no action

Actually I do. After same-sex marriage was recognized as a right by SCOTUS the religious social-conservatives were left twiddling their thumbs a bit. They still had abortion but that wasn't as incendiary and frankly, at the time, I don't think they held up much hope of getting Roe repealed.

So they dreamt up the idea of banning transgender people using the bathrooms that corresponded with their target gender with the notion that transgender women were secretly using this an an option to rape little girls. That really sparked the outrage-o-meter and they realized they were onto a winner with that one.

Of course that issue shone a light on the whole transgender community so that people like me (who knew they existed but only on the far end of my knowledge spectrum) started to look more closely into the subject.

In a way, it's very like the same-sex marriage issue; in an attempt to ban it they actually popularized the subject so that now support for transgender rights is up above 60% across the board in the US:

    https://www.prri.org/research/americas-growing-support-for-transgender-rights/

Happens every time and they just don't learn!

I've been aware of transgenderism since the 1960s. People used to just leave them alone but it's the "banners" who have brought the issue to the fore far more than the supporters in my opinion.

Yes they do which is why reversible puberty blockers are often used. Sometimes it's just counseling and time but many of these bills ban ANY type of gender affirming care. I do understand that for some "wait and see" just isn't an option. They are living tortured lives on a daily basis.

Good example. Like the issue we are discussing, the child has no influence, yet takes 100% of the consequences.

As can those pushing conversation therapy. If you are an adult, can afford unnecessary cosmetic surgery, and want to remove breasts, penis, testicles, uterus, etc. I see no reason for government interference. It you want to do this to a child, you (Not you personally) need to be stopped.

Telling children that they were born defective and require drugs and surgery to "fix" is unlikely to lead to a happy, healthy, self confident adult.

I respect your beliefs to the point of imposing them on children.

What they see in the mirror is based on a social construct that was fed to them. The image femininity, for example, is not the same everywhere. Here, it is a dress, long eyelashes, pink, lipstick, etc. In other parts of the world, an elongated neck and head is considered feminine.

This is all based on the outer image, meant to appear feminine/masculine to others. What is important is how we feel on the inside. I live in Los Angeles and have seen many trans women. I am sorry to report that all of them still look masculine. Even the females, chasing the Barbie image will never achieve their desired appearance. (I told a woman that her surgeon pulled her face a bit too tight. She seemed surprised!)

If a child has these feelings, what is wrong with telling them they are perfect the way they are?

It appears that those with opposing opinions have to resort to distractions to make their case. This is a discussion about unnecessary, irreversible cosmetic surgery to alter the image others see. Can you defend the position of encouraging children to chase an image they will never achieve?

And it is obvious you have not been reading my posts where I have been pointing out that sex and gender are non binary in fact they are a spectrum

As with children born with a cleft palate. Can you defend telling children they were born defective and require drugs and irreversible surgery to "fix"?

What are we talking about here because that describes a lot of conditions unrelated to sex and gender. Again if you had been looking at my previous posts many intersex babies that were born with ambiguous genitalia I e micro pen is with undescended testes were operated on to “normalise” the genitalia. Many of these children when they learnt the reality have transitioned back and they are the ones advocating for delay in intervention until they are old enough to decide. These represent the true group requiring medical interventions at puberty. Not one of you have been able to prove that widespread inappropriate medical interventions have occurred
