that is due to several reasons-some are obvious but the main one, IMHO is this. National Review noted a few years ago that "gun owners" are seen as the totem enemy for everyone that sees conservative, Christian middle class to affluent, straight white males as their enemy. Gun control is designed to attack this enemy for their perceived opposition to abortion, gay rights, gender confusion, leftwing authoritarianism, governmental centralization, feminism, environmentalism, animal "rights" and other woke or progressive ideals. So the reason why whites (who percentage wise are way underrepresented as perpetrators of violent crimes in the USA) are highlighted, is to help this leftwing agenda.

I am so thankful I don't live in a high crime area.

Someone really needs to do an economic study examining what the true cost is on the American economy of people having to pay more money to live in neighborhoods with less crime. I suspect it is staggering.

    Hi, kazenatsu!

I have proposed no laws or social programs. I'm just a poor old country mouse. I leave it up to those who are far wiser than I to come up with effective laws and programs.

    Regards, stay safe 'n well 'n un-shot.

I don't have to deal with anything. I sit back and watch the leftwing pretend they care as they try to ban our guns. -which requires them to hope that men with guns are willing to carry out that which they cannot do on their own

It's the guns. Having them so readily available is obviously a problem.

guns were more readily available decades ago-you could buy them through the mail, no forms-you could buy machine guns when the cost of the gun was less than the tax stamp. we didn't have these issues then. we also didn't have the cancerous repercussions of the "Great Society" Program either

to them it is the guns. its people owning guns and voting against gun banners. so they are truthful-to them the problem i legal gun ownership. Not crime, not mass murders etc. its about people who own guns voting against their socialist desires

Just found something on the latest Texas mall murderer:

Looks like he was not an illegal nor an active gang member. Mexican Nationalist? Could be!

    independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/crime/mauricio-garcia-shooting-texas-mall-identified-b2334505.html

A gunman clad in black body armour and armed with an AR-15-style assault rifle opened fire at a Texas mall on Saturday, killing eight people and injuring seven others.

The suspect was identified by the Texas Department of Public Safety as 33-year-old Mauricio Garcia, a security guard and US Army veteran.

It has gotten to the point to where no one is safe anymore. This includes us all. It can get to the point where we will be afraid to step outside our own houses to fear that some sniper is out to kill us for no reason. This has got to stop. period!

There may not have been any civilian guns at the mall that day. Thing is, these shooters have a field day till they run into an armed person that fights back. Most malls have a sign on the door to the effect they would rather you didn't shop armed.

Let's see - there's about 120,000 people shot per year and there's about 330,000,000 Americans.
That's about 4 per 100,000? Figures don't make sense - I calculated shootings but some stats give the same figure for gun deaths.
Anyhow, you are 28 times more likely to be shot in USA than in Australia. And other nations like Japan, Singapore, China etc are way way lower again.

I suggest in the OECD America is like an outlier, up there with some developing countries in Sth America.

    most people shot are suicides.
then felons being shot by other felons

those two categories make up about 90% of those shot

don't forget about four decades of uncontrolled illegal immigration.

A lot of the offspring they had grew up without very much parental attention, in neighborhoods where many children got involved with drugs sales and gangs. Not to mention that a higher normal percentage of these illegals were criminals themselves (America wasn't exactly getting Mexico's best and brightest), so it's going to leave a legacy on the gene pool, sadly.

Innocent or guilty, we don't shoot people where I live. THAT'S the SECURITY - NO GUNS.
