and hopefully you will be able to remain blissfully unaware because if you really need a gun and don't have one, chances are you will need ever need anything in the future

It's probably too late for Americans to have a gun free society like Japan, Singapore etc.. Banning weapons means the crooks have 'em and you don't.
But despite loving America as much as I love Australia, I can't help but feel there's other things like homelessness and drugs in the US that are probably way too late as well.
    And that's sad.

Yes, I am fine that citizens GENERALLY don't have guns (but I work on a farm, and we have rifles and shotguns galore)
I am ok that the police have guns for domestic issues, and soldiers have guns for national-international security (plus F35's, nuclear subs etc..)
    There's a seriously big difference.

I don't know, I just live day by day. That's all. I don't know if I'll be around tomorrow. I just don't know. Sorry.

Without guns citizens have no way to defend themselves. We don’t like that, since criminals will keep theirs. We also don’t like the police having a monopoly on violence.

yep, the anti gun left usually wants the state to have a monopoly of just about every power imaginable. We on the right don't like that

Police dont' have a monopoly - security guards, FBI, CIA, the army, navy, airforce... they have guns too.
America, particularly the blue states, seem to prioritize criminals over authority when it comes to guns - attempts to add time to sentencing when a crime is committed with a firearm in California have been struck down. If I see a policeman and a civilian duking it out I will presume the civilian is in the wrong.

Its the price of freedom. Thoughts & prayers.

Well, he WAS a neo-nazi & white supremacist, so its not like someone wants you to believe something thats not true.

Its exactly what you want, which is why you support the government micromanaging schools and everything else.

First off, California makes the dumbest rules humanly possible. That said, most private security is not armed, and they are not performing any function aside from recording crimes for the company they work for.
But we do not want law-enforcement to be the only ones bearing weapons.

You can hire armed, or unarmed security. Its up to the people doing the hiring, and its same in every State

the war on drugs and the welfare programs starting in the early 60s are the two main reasons for the gun violence

How do you figure? How come other countries which invest far more in welfare programs have drastically less gun violence (war in drugs is same).

well you are making the incorrect assumption that foreign welfare systems had the massively deleterious impact on family integrity as the Great Society did for black Americans

I see, so you shift your claim to blacks. I was wondering because the initial claim died a quick death.

Either way, the fact remains that other countries which invest far more in welfare programs have drastically less gun violence.

well its the group most impacted by the Great Society and the group with by far the highest rate of violent crime

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/entitl...amily-father-crime-reconciliation-11632257747

    https://www.latimes.com/socal/daily-pilot/opinion/tn-dpt-1221-commentary1-20121220-story.html

in 1960, the rate of illegitimacy was 5%. In 2012, the rate of mothers having children out of wedlock stood at 34% for whites, 53% for Latinos and 80% for African Americans, according to USA Today. Unwed mothers make up a high number of welfare recipients and many of the juveniles behind bars came from single moms. Dropout rates are also dismal.

Children growing up in public housing, exposed to violence and drugs in the absence of a stable, two-parent home are essentially condemned to a life of poverty and failure. They have a far greater chance of winding up behind bars, pregnant, on skid row or dead than in a nice home with a family and a good job.

    Or....maybe Cause <> Causation.

It sounds like you simply like to shift the blame on things you disagree with.

So, again, why is the US the only country where one thing led to another and even then only within one group of people?

you seem confused-I am not blaming blacks-I am blaming white leftwing elitists in the Democrat party and the virulent racist who pushed that crap through in the early 1960s.

I know you love to shift the blame on things you disagree with and scream "RAAAACIST", but blind blame-shifting fails to answer the obvious questions.

For the 3rd time, why is the US the only country where one thing led to another and even then only within one group of people?

well we both know that your posts often attribute views to others that are not supported by the factual record. what I do KNOW it is not the gun laws that are the cause-when Great Society started, kids and felons could buy firearms and you could buy them through the mail and the Class III tax stamp was more than the cost of a machine gun

that's one of the real ironies of the anti gun movement

they need MEN WITH GUNS to carry out their plans to disarm the public
and they NEED MEN WITH GUNS to protect them from others
